I have a VW touran diesel 1.9. Recently there was a brake pad warning light indicated on my dash board, so I took it to my closest gargae to check. They replaced two new brake discs and the brake pads. However, they could not find a way to reset the warning light. So even though it is fixed, the warning light is still on my dash board. Do you know if it can be reset without going to the dealer?

Nope,it has to go back to a dealer(the computer is too expensive for a diy mech)they will reset it IF GENUINE parts have been used, as sensors are inbuilt into the pads.

Dash board light

From what I can tell that looks to be a brake warning lamp. I would get it checked out at your closest service center. It might be a low pressure warning or a low brake pad warning. I am not sure, but would have it checked as soon as possible.

My handbrake light keeps flickering on my 1996 vw golf convertible

this could simply be a loose connection on the handbrake switch but this light is also the brake fluid level warning light so it might be a good idea to check the brake fluid level too. also it might be part of the brake pad warning system ane may indicate that the brake pads are nearing replacement it is also required to replace the warning wires with the pads

let me know if this helps

I replaced the front pads on a VW JETTA 2.5 and the check pads light is on. How can I reset the check pads light?

As the brake pads wear, the brake pad wear sensor contained in the brake pad contacts the brake rotor. This causes the sensor to fail. When a pad wear sensor fails it opens the ground circuit of the pad wear warning light system causing the pad wear warning light to illuminate. Perform normal brake service to correct this condition and be sure to replace the brake pads with pads containing wear sensors. Once the brake pads and wear sensors are replaced, reset the brake pad warning system by turning the ignition switch to the "on" position. As long as continuity to ground exists through all the brake pad wear sensors the system should reset and the pad warning light in the dash will go out. If the pad warning light does not go out, a check of the pad warning circuit for an open circuit condition or poor ground must be performed.

Hi i have an orange warning light on the but dont know waht it is i dont have a manual it I have a vw passet 2000 the light is a circle with 3 bracket like lines around it in the centre of the dashboard...

On mine i had a circle with some lines around it and it was a brake pad indicator, meaning that the car has determined that you need to replace your brake pads. I have included a link to a picture. your dash may not look like this, but the orange light on the top left is the brake pad indicator light. Hope this helps!
