You need part GM Part number 89018675 or ACDelco 15-73596. The Mode Selector Actuator. What happens is the part is a CHEAP part POORLY designed and when it goes to turn the flaps inside the HVAC unit its the plastic gear slips instead of turning the flap!!!
Just to forward you you might want a deal to install this art for you unless your good at fixing your own vehicle, because you need SMALL sockets and a lot of patience to get this part in!!!
The part is ALMOST directly above the steering shaft for your steering wheel, so theres a lot you got to remove before you will even see them!!!
I only recommend you to have a dealer put this part in for you, unless you have your own service manual!!
Because there is 5 of these darn things and if you pick the wrong one you will have to do it all over again!!!
3 on the Drivers side and 2 on the Passengers side!!
But replacing this part SHOULD solve all your problems!! AS it did for me and i was having the same issues as you have described!!
Sorry I couldn't edit what i typed above but what I meant to say above in the 2 paragraph was:
Just be forewarned you might want a dealer to install this part for you
unless your good at fixing your own vehicle, because you need SMALL
sockets, small hands, and a lot of patience to get this part in!!!
Sorry about that!
This is the part you need:

SOURCE: Heat wont blow through heater or defroster vents
common problem, check under dash by the gas pedal if control arms are muving went selecting from ac to heat cuz this it is the control for the vents to go from ac to heat and to defrost.
SOURCE: Dash vents will not blow air. Defroster and floor vents blow fine.
Is it a new vehicle? I had a new vehicle that had the same problem. Answer was that the holes weren't punched out of the vent.

I have the same problem.... no air flow from the dash vents.....I had recently replaced the battery but i don't think that had anything to do with it.
Mine is a 2004 model......HELP
My trailblazer has the same problem. I disconnected the battery to remove the alternator. When I put everything back together, I had no airflow from the dash vents on test drive. Someone help please, I would hate for the dealer to point out my stupid mistake!!
have same problem with 2004 chevy silverado pu truck.
i start drive the car and i can hear the engine goes grayzy like iam driving but iam still at park position so i think the air wont get to engine .
climate control module is new but when i put it on feet ir blows oyt of the main vent... defrost blows on feet and so on.. what is the problem?
Modes dont work correctly. Defrost mode blow on floor vent. Floor mode blows through main vent.
Air only comes through the defrost and foot vents. I have a digital panel on the dash. What should I do?
heater only blows from defrost not dash vents
control knob does not respond to different settings (floor or dash)
heat and ac will not blow out of dash or floor vents
air only comes out of dash vents wont switch to defrost 2000 xterra
when you turn defrost on it blows out the vents or if you turn to defrost and floor it blows out the vents. The climate control pannel has been replaced.
replaced bad mode actuator and ran reset as instructed but now the dash vents blow no matter what position the knob is put on
