Electric Fuel Pump-Fuel Injected REMOVAL & INSTALLATION The electric fuel pump is contained within the fuel tank. On 1988-92 models, it is necessary to remove the fuel tank from the vehicle in order to reach the pump. 2005 TOYOTA CAROLLA FUEL PUMP REMOVAL HOW TO GET FUEL SENDER UNIT OUT OF FUEL TANK?

Drop the fuel tank, if it has the metal type locking ring, take a screw driver and hammer and tap on the tabs sticking up on the ring counter clockwise until the slots line up and pops out, then just pull out the unit tipping it to one side or the other to clear the float.
If it has the big plastic screw on type ring, you will need a special tool for that or the ring will break if your not careful.
