Hello, VSC, Trac OFF and Check Engine lights turn on when i was driving. Whats means ? In Autozone said me that problem is with the catalyst system. Thanks for your advise.

Hello, the reason for the vsc light to turn on is that the check engine light came on first causing the vsc system to become disabled, this is normal, once the cause of the check engine light is fixed the other lights will turn off. You'll need to find out the diagnostic codes that caused the check engine light to turn on first, most auto parts stores like autozone, pep boys, o reilly can help you with getting those codes from the computer and they do this for free in most US states, when you have the code numbers you can reply if necessary and I can advise as to what should be done.

i had an issue with a nissan xterra and it turned out to be a Cam position sensor. Who would have thought? Engine light would be my primary concern, local auto parts store (advance or autozone) can pull the service engine code.

VSC is vehicle stability/skid control. Find the button that turns it off and on. Push the button to turn it on and the light should go off. Most cases systems like these will have a light stay on any time they are turned off. If the vehicle is a 96' or newer call around to your local auto parts stores and you should find one that will scan your vehicle for free and tell you why the check engine light is on. If the two problems are related the scan should tell you what part of the VSC is malfunctioning.

Hello, the vsc/trac lights will turn on whenever the check engine light turns on first, this is a fail safe function,vsc and trac are disabled as soon as the check engine light turns on so the check light needs to be diagnosed first, you will need to have the onboard computer scanned for diagnostic codes for the engine control system, these are usually a letter fllowed by some numbers, for example a P0301 code would be an engine misfire on the #1 cylinder. If there is an Autozone store or other autoparts vhain store like advance auto, pep boys etc give them a call and take the truck there, they usually help you get the trouble code numbers at no charge, after you have this information post a follow up with the results and I can help you with a solution.

Hi, have you scanned the vehicle to see why your check engine light is on? IF no, you need to. Toyota/Lexus computer system illumniates both engine light and VSC lights whenver a fault occurs in either unit. VSC or stability control is like trac-control or ABS braking system. Get car scanned and make sure all computers are scanned for additional codes, repair them first reset lights and test drive. ON a side note, fixing check engine light will usually take VSC light away also, however sometimes the VSC system will glitch out and a Steering Angle relearn is necessary, it takes about 3mins to perform and a good quality scan tool with 2004 current software. I have both lights on in my 2004 van also I have the engine light on. i took it to the dealer and they found the Yaw Rate Sensor (Vsc & TRAC) bad. The part is about$ 405 and is under the drivers seat. The other problems is the Catalyst System (engine light) about $1000 for parts.I have about 147,000 miles on my '04 and the problems started about 130,000.
