The crank sensor can be found on the passenger side
look where the bell housing meets the block
it looks like it is sandwiched between them
but it is not all you have to do is unhook the wire and remove the 2 bolts and lift it straight up and out
hope this was a help
leave some feed back if you could
good luck

No spark to plugs 1990 dodge pickup 318 cid

I saw this link and it has same issue with several solutions.
Some solution check motor ground, damage wiring to distributor/ coil, ecm and crank sensor. One person said he found solution by trouble code even though he had no check engine light on dash.

My 1990 dodge ram van,318 ci eng.starts only when cold.Starter turns o.k.Runs well whe hot.Paul.

My first car was a 1969 Dodge Coronet station wagon with the 318 cubic inch engine. Loved it!
In my experience, the most common reason for this behavior is a bad crank or cam position sensor (assuming your car has one of those), since they tend to fail hot.
Another possibility is that a dirty or worn ignition switch is supplying power to starter, but not the engine, when it gets warm. Try spraying with WD-40 to see if that helps.

I have a 1990 Dodge Ram 150 with the 318 engine that the coil isnt sending fire to the dist...But the coil is good. Could someone help?

Could be a bad coil, or a bad pickup coil inside the distributor, or worst case a bad pcm.

You said the coil is good, but didn't mention if you had tested the coil's primary and secondary circuits with an ohmmeter to see if they are within specs? And the pickup coil is like a crank position sensor: it tells the pcm crankshaft position and rpm so the computer can determine spark timing.

Were is the crankshaft sensor is located on 1990 dodge pickup with 318

If your truck has a multiport fuel injection system then crank sensor is located on the top of the bell housing on the passenger side. If your truck has carburetor or throttle body injection then your truck doesn't have a crank sensor.

1992 dodge 318 engine turns over, but no start. No spark present. Replaced ignition coil and pickup coil, still no spark. 1992 dodge ram 150 full size truck 318 engine. starts sometimes then wont start...

if truck has a ceramic ballist resistor near and connected to coil this could be problem or the crk posistion sensor could be too, i would change ballast first if you have on your truck appx cost $10

Engine swap

I just put a 96 360 magnum in my 97 dodge 4x4 that had a 318 in it. Yes it does fit. I noticed that the flex plate on the 360 has balance weights on it and the 318 does not. Make sure the plate stays with the 360. The torque converter and exhaust manifolds bolted right up. The 96 360 engine had different connector plugs on the Map sensor, Crank Sensor and Tps. Get those off of your 318.
I did notice that with the 96 PCM for the 360 my fuel guage was off quite a bit. The 360 will run off of the 318 computer at least if your in a bind for Money.

1990 DODGE D150 WON'T START WHEN HOT

There is a temp. sensor on the exhaust manifold that I just switched out on car that done the same thing it would start when cold but once it was hot and you killed the car it would not start back. When this goes bad its throwing the wrong signal to the computer that it is too hot and allowing it not to crank. This sensor was on the left side of the engine if your facing the car from the front. Also It can be tested with a multimeter to see if it is bad.
