Just stopped working the gas guage hasnt worked since she got it im thinking maybe the fuel pump went out looking for advice

It's not your fuel pump or car would'nt start. gas guage may not be working because of bad fuel pump sending unit thats on the side of the fuel pump in your fuel tank. thay do not sell a fuel pump sending unit by itself,you'll need to buy the whole fuel pump. stinks,but i've been there. the fuel pumps located inside of the gas tank. the tank will have to come off[gas tank] then the new fuel pump installed,then your fuel guage will work. it has nothing to do with the fuel pump relay or the fuel pump itself. as long as the fuel pump works,the engine will run. but the sending unit on the side of the fuel pump,tells you how much fuels in the tank. get it? if the sending units bad on the fuel pump in the gas tank,the fuel pump will still operate,but no signal to your gas hand on the dash to tell you how much fuels in your gas tank.only fix,replace the fuel pump.most garages charge labor according to how much fuels in your gas tank.[hint] take it to your mechanic with little fuel in the gas tank. that way,the gas tanks not heavy and hard to handle under your car. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com let me know if i've assisted you please!
