The clicking will be the starter solenoid not getting enough juice. Check the battery charge, especially the connections, which may need to be cleaned. Use Sodium Bicarbonate (baking soda) in a little water to clean the connections, which will sizzle a bit. Wipe dry and clean.
Check your battery connections on the battery itself, and to the starter. A loose cable or one that is corroded will keep it from getting the proper voltage where it needs to go.
The solenoid only brings two large discs of copper together to make a strong connection from the positive battery terminal to the positive lead on the starter motor. The connection from the solenoid TO the starter motor is corroded or broken. Make sure to remove negative battery connection before doing anything with your starter motor. youve got the wires on the starter wrong. there are usually two small connections on the starter, but only one small wire. if you install wire on wrong one, it grounds without the key being turned to start. check it and swap that wire only. large cable to battery and large connector wire should stay on the large bolt to the solenoid
