It will be at the front of the vehicle under the bonnet attached to big metal block with all the brake pipes running to this block and the pump is part of the block

The convertible top on my 2009 VW beetle wont close enough to allow me to latch it when i am the only occupant. The motor for the top appears to be working fine.

When this occurred to me on a Beetle as well as on an A4, in both cases it was caused by a slightly low hydraulic fluid level. It is not a normal maintenance item, and therefore no official 'check and fill up' recommendation in the manual. After locating the tank (rear right side, trunk on A4, forgot if same on Beetle) and taking the cap off, filled up with mineral hydraulic fluid (same as the special fluid used for VW/Audi power steering).

1999 vw Beetle abs light is on. What does this mean and how much do repairs cost?

it will cost about a $100 to get it diagnosed. They will then tell you how much more it will cost to fix it. You can still drive the car with the light on. You just don't have antiskid capabilities.

ABS light keeps coming on. 1999 VW Beetle. I'm pretty sure the brakes are ok

Pretty sure does not cut it with Brakes. Open them up and inspect them. Then look for correct fluid levels. IF nothing there, have teh computer codes pulled and see what the offending issue is.

Clear fluid leaking from the front right side of a 2000 vw beetl

Could be brake fluid, so look at the brake fluid resevoir.
Could also be water from the evaporator, from the air conditioner.
Is it oily to the touch?

I started hearing a grinding noise when I turned the wheel and I thought I might just be able to add some power steering fluid but it looks like I can't do that what is your suggestion because now it is...

VW uses hydraulic oil (VW part # G 002 000) and not ATF. Your reservoir is located beside the battery, use a flathead screw driver to remove the cap/dipstick. Always clean dipstick with a clean rag before using as a measuring device.

COLD: The level should be +/- 2mm of the minimum mark. Adjust the fluid level if required and screw the cap back on hand tight when done.

HOT: With the engine running, temp should be above 50*C (122*F). The level should be between the Max and Min marker. Adjust the fluid and screw the top on hand tight when done.

Only use VW part # 002 000 Hydraulic OIL and not ATF

ABS Light Stays on new brakes put on

Could be dirty abs sensors attached to your brakes. I would clean them with brake parts or elecronical cleaner.
Other possibility is a faulty ABS system.

Hi,
The first thing to do is check the fuse - it's position will be in the Haynes / Bentley manuals. If you don't have one and don't want to get one (they are really useful) then you could take out all the fuses one by one and test them or visually inspect them. The location of the fuse panel will be in the Users Manual.

If that doesn't fix it, please come back and ask again. Hope this helps. D.
