We have a 2003 Navigator that the door ajar light stays on and the auto running boards will stay out and come in and out while driving. Could this be a sensor and where is it located?
I have the same problem with my passenger door all the time. The dealer was nice and didn't charge me for some advice. Find out which door it is or do this to all. It is the part on the door the grabs the round thing in the door jam. It looks like two fingers kinda. Spray with WD-40 and clean with a rag to get all the dirt out of there. Spray again and open and close the door several times. This clears my problem and I hope this helps you too.
Wow, it worked, thanks!
We have had this problem before and of course our extended warranty just ran out 6 months ago AFTER they supposedly "fixed" the running board issues, and the air bag issues, we still have air bag issues but the WD-40 worked fixed the passenger running board so it works properly, no more door ajar and no more lights staying on to drain my battery.... and my Navigator only has 50K miles! I will NEVER buy a Ford Product again!
