Best to connect a fuel pressure tester to the fuel rail to see how much pressure you have 40 psi. If it is low then you have a delivery problem. Pump, filter, some type of obstruction in the fuel lines, fuse or relay.
Fuel pump replaced, crank sensor replaced, coil, wires and plugs all replaced, now truck acts like it's flooding out and won't continue to run.. problem started with truck shutting itself off while driving. you could let it sit and cool off and it would restart but only for a few minutes..
Check that the Idle air controller is not faulty, disconnect it and start the truck again, if the truck starts (running poorly) then replace the IAC.
That would make since if you are talking about a Vortec Sequential fuel injection engine. But the symptoms are usually a little different:
Truck starts fine when cold but hard starting, or won't start at all when at operating temp. Hard starting was caused by a leaking fuel pressure reg. On 98-01 Sequential fuel injection Vortec engines the spider assembly and FPR are located under the upper intake manifold. once the FPR starts leaking, the fuel collects in the intake manifold and sits there flooding the engine. If the truck sits long enough the fuel will evaporate and the engine will fire. The fix is to purchase the upgraded Spider assembly for SFI vortecs, this upgrade does away with the poppet style injectors and replaces them with real injectors and is complete including the FPR and is a direct bolt-in.

After using the chemical (by taking off the plastic thing on the top on the engine and spraying it into the butterfly thing) I was able to drive it all day yesterday and it ran like a champ. As long as I started it every few hours- each time it started right up- only one turn of the key. I had some one tell me that there is some "spider thing" when it comes to the injection and that one "leg" controls it all and that is what is bad. Sorry that I am unable to actually name the parts and all. What do you think of this potential solution?
I have the same problem.....changed the FPR and no change.....wont start when cold......put a little fuel in throttle body and it starts right up and runs.....has new fuel pump 61 psi......runs great once it starts.....no problems rest of day after first initial start
