No but check with the dealer or your service/owner manual for the manufacturer recommended gearbox oil change periods.
There is no filter on the manual gearbox .
Whatever the manufacturer recommended period is for a gearbox oil change, change the gearbox oil twice as frequently as recommended to maintain it in good condition. If, for example, a change every 50000 miles is stipulated then do it every 25000 or so.
Not usually with a manual gearbox, they will go for a hundred miles. Autos need to be changed at about 40 thousand. The diff. should not need it either.
Very nice to know that somebody care of his car.I understood that this is 1.9 TDI JETTA in124000 miles. To avoid problems in the future you have to change gearbox oil by recommended from a manufacturer.Second-Check all wheel bearings/rear ones/ for noise. Also make suspension test. any way you have to visit vw workshop for full diagnostic of the JETTA
it has a drain plug and a filler plug but you should never need to change the oil ,but the oil to use is EP90 hypoid oil as gearbox has helical cut gears which need exteme pressure oil .a top up yes maybe but change the oil in a manual box is not something anyone does ,yes i know its in the 100.000 mile service check list but no one ever does it in a garage .because by this time the vehicle needs a new clutch and you have to drain the oil to do the clutch
hi if your talking about service then you need to find out when the timing belt was done last if it has not been done then its due.
other than that you need to check gearbox oil level change oil and oil filter change air filter change spark plugs change fuel filter check tyres and tyre pressure check lights working check washer bottle fluid level and check its working take it for a drive on a bumpy road and listen for any knocking noises if any are heard then bottom ball joint needs replacing.
i hope i have given you enough to be getting on with.
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
I have been with same problem on a BMW 325i.
It is because you need to add oil. Less oil= extrem temperature!
try to add oil, better to change oil and filter.
regards
Hi, gearbox oil on all automatics are due for oil and filter change and tourqe converter to be flushed once at 40,000 then you never need touch it again
if this is an automatic the fluid should be changed along with the filter every 60,000 miles, if it is a manual trans there is no factory recommended fluid change unless the trans is torn down for repair.
hi the axle is one of the few things that don,t fall apart on these vans but gearbox oils axless etc like engine oils need replacing regular if you want them to last i would change it every 50000 mile yates210456
