first replace master cylinder the replace rear wheel brake cylinders.. Inspect front pads for non uniform wear, inspect front rotors replace if badly worn or scarred. You are dealing with 23-24 year old parts.

Brake system must be purged/ bled of air when system is opened. Some times the entire system has to be bled several times to get ALL of the air out. Please refer to a repair manual for correct bleeding procedure or take vehicle to reputable mechanic. Brakes save lives!!!

Good question, on the antilock system is a bleader too and bleade it the same way you bleade the caliper. After all is done adjust the rear brakes, they should have a drag to them.

Replace the brake hose. An internal tear in the hose can allow fluid to flow into the caliper, but collapse inside not allowing the pressure to release.

possible the master cylinder is not allowing the brakes to release all the way. also did you check the slider bolts on the brakes to make sure there not binding? if there new or all the brakes are smoking i would lean towards the master cylinder

Hello, wow sounds like you have done it all. But there is a spliter block that is right below the master cylinder that the two lines from the master cylinder goes into and then four other lines come out of it going to each wheel. Not often but sometimes these will cause that problem. Good luck

Are the rotors worn? Worn rotors and new pads will sometimes cause this. The pad sits across the ridges and no matter how much you bleed the system the pedal just wont stiffen up. (See diagram. A - New pads, B - Rotor, C - Ridge)
If you did not install new pads you may also want to check the master cylinder seals. First bleed the system at the pipes that connect to the master. If the rotors are ok, you've bled the master cylinder and the problem persists then replace the seals or the complete master cylinder.

You may have a leak in the booster or master cylinder. You can put a pressure tester on the system to test for leaks. It does sound like you have an air leak.
You can try to bleed the master cylinder, then slave cylinder, then brake lines.

I just went to Brake Masters this morning and had them replace the Master Cylinder since I was experiencing the pedal very spongy and going to the floor. When they replaced the Master Cylinder and they gave me back the car, the brakes were still spongy and going to the floor. I addressed this to them and they took another look at it, but when I took it for a second time, the brakes were extremely spongy. It was almost like they gave me back my car in worst condition to when I brought it in. Can you help?

Your Brake Master Cylinder is Failing. Get this Replaced and the Brake System Bled and it will work just fine. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!
