Disconnect neg cable from battery. locate starter relay, on fender well. disconnect large single wire, from the relay, the one going to the starter. now put neg cable back on battery.momentarily touch the large wire on starter relay. if the starter tries to turn, or there are sparks, the starter relay is bad. if nothing happens when the large wire is back on the relay, hold the large wire in place, while turning the key to the start position. if the starter continues to turn when the key goes back to off, remove large wire, replace solenoid
If its a new starter check and see that the wires are hooked up right, could be time for a new starter, or starter relay on the fender well, or the ignition switch is bad.
