2004 ford expedition with a lean code in bank 1. Have replaced all of the ignition coils, fuel filter, uppper and lower intake gaskets, had the fuel injectors cleaned and checked, and still i have a rough idle and a lack of power. Looking for a true solution the mechanics have all given up and I am running out of money and patience. Thanks, Randy

A lean code for an entire bank would seem to point to a bad O2 sensor located in the bank exhaust head pipe somewhat ahead of the catalytic converter. Take the vehicle to Autozone or a similar business to get a free computer scan--it may reveal other fault codes. Do any of the cylinders have a regular miss? If two adjacent cylinders have a miss, there might be a blown head gasket between them--a compression check would reveal that. It might be time to find some mechanics that know what they are doing! Good luck!

Could be the upstream oxygen sensor is faulty and is causing a lean code, have someone with a scan tool watch all the oxygen sensors. compare the 2 front ones and make sure they are fluctuating properly

DTC P0171 - System Too Lean (Bank 1)
Basically this means that an oxygen sensor in bank 1 detected a lean condition (too much oxygen in the exhaust). On V6/V8/V10 engines, Bank 1 is the side of the engine that has cylinder #1.

Note: This DTC is very similar to P0174, and in fact your vehicle may show both codes at the same time.

According woth your previous tasks, inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary.

Fault codes P0355, P0171, P0174 on ford expedition 2001 what do i need to fix

The P0355 code is, "Ignition Coil E Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction" this has to do with the coil(s) and the coil may be going bad, or you have a bad wire / plug (connection) to the coil. P0171 is "System Too Lean (Bank 1)" and P0174 is " System Too Lean (Bank 2)" . The P017X codes mean your ox2 sensors are picking up a lean burn condition. Engine running to warm (hot) or your coolant temp sensor is not reading right or one of the ox2 sensors (Bank 1) is going bad. Hard to trouble shoot this from my computer desk.

I have a 2000 model expedition and the codes po174 and po171 are popping up, along with po301 and po306 showing misfire. How can I fix that?

P0174/0171 are bank 1-2 running lean (insufficient fuel) which is related to the misfire codes. When there is a misfire detected, the computer shuts fuel to those cylinders triggering "too lean" codes. These vehicles are known for ignition coil failures. I'd recommend you replace all ignition coils (qty of 8) as they do have a short life span. Replace with another brand (not motorcraft/Ford), such as MSD/Accell/BOSH etc. hopefully this helpd!!

1996 ford windstar 3.8 codes say that cylinders 4 and 6 are misfiring, system too lean bank 1,egr flow insufficient. whats up?

Cylinder misfiring hapens when ignition coil is bad and bad spark plugs.
System to lean is usualy when fuel pump lose pressure or you have blown gasket on intake manifold. Check fuel pressure first.
When EGR flow is insufficient there is EGR valve, sensor and solenoid, could go bad., so you have multiple codes P0171, P0304,P0306, P0401

I have a 2003 ford expedition,

if you have the 3.8 engine you might have a vacuum leak at the intake where the plastic intake meets the lower intake, there are rubber gaskets that fail when they get older from oil getting into intake. This will set that po171 also p0172 -3 &4,hope this helps as you may be wasting time and money to try and fix it with just the o2sensor .The maf on the ex is where the cone air filter is look for the wiring harness that goes into air filter housing, its inside there fun to remove dont brake it

2001 Ford Windstar, check engine light has been on for a while, but started flashing last night. It ran out of oil in 1 month's time. Brand new transmission 1 month ago, they told us that it had lean...

if the light is flashing it most like hasly some sort of misfire or converter failure, p0171 and p0174 is lean bank 1 and 2, replace you upper and lower plenum gaskets, while they have they off have they replace your ignition coil, plugs and wires, windstars are known for 2 things, lean codes,(plenum gaskets) misfire(bad ignition coil)
