Suspension groans when making a left turn

Car makes loud groan when when I turn the steering wheel to the left. No noise when turned to the right. The front springs are new (struts are original), the stabilizer links are new, replaced 6 months ago. I replaced the lower ball joints on both sides 8 months ago (5,000 miles ago) and the noise went away for about a month, then came back same as before.

the car has 99,000 miles on it

I was told that noise was my upper ball joints. Did you have both replaced? It could now be the upper ball joints making the noise.

check the boot or grommet where the steering rod goes through into the engine compartment. When it dries out it can make a noise when you turn the steering wheel.

Sometimes the noise is in the steering wheel the plastic is rubbing together causing that sound.

My car makes a low pitch groaning noise when i make a left turn does my power steering fluid need to be changed it is dark brown and there are no leaks

a change will not hurt it
If the noise is only from one direction it could be suspension related or box related . have an accredited steering specialist shop look at it.

My wife's car is making a loud groaning noise in the front end while turning the steering wheel either direction.

If you have strut type suspension it may be the bearing at the top of the strut worn out.

1990 Buick LeSabre - front end groans when I turn the wheels left or right. Started about 3 wks ago, but it wasn't constant at first. Steering pump? Fluid? Belt? Hoses? Ball Bearings? Lube? ...

First of all check the power steering fluid, have someone turn the wheel and listen to see if the noise is comming from the p/s pump, if no noise it is likely comming from the strut bearings. Worse case it could be in the rack & pinion unit.

There is a noise coming from the right-front wheel area during a left turn. It almost sounds like a tire-rub on the inner wheel-well cover, but it also makes this same noise when stationary while turning...

I had this same problem and the dealer could not reproduce the noise when I would take it in to get looked at. (during the day when the temperature was warm) So I decided to leave it over night and they test drove it in the morning when the temperature was cold and they heard the noise. It ended up bing the steering rack.

Car groans when turning corners

You need to describe the problem better. Does it groan only when moving and turning, or will it make the same noise just sitting there turning the steering wheel. If it only makes noise when moving, that rules out a ps problem, the ps doesnt know if you are moving or not. Does it make different noise if you are going to the right or left, same noise, different? I dont know about the reservoir, some of them have filters, but I dont know if Buick does or not. If it was, it would cause a whine, not a groan.

2002 buick rendezvous groans when turning

The fluid in the versa trak AWD in the rear is old and needs to be drained and refilled. After you drain and refill it, make a bunch of sharp left and right hand turns, then drive it for 10 minutes. Drain and refill it for the second time and problem solved. Use only versa trak fluid available at any GM dealership. There is TSB on this now at the Buick dealership.

96 Grand Am Groaning

Sounds like the power steering pump failing. If it seems to be worse when you turn the wheel at a stop, it is time for a new p/s pump.

Right turn loud groaning

I would say you have bad wheel bearings on the front. More noise turning right means the left is REALLY bad.

Loud groaning noise while turning left

Hi

The groaning noise is the power steer pump operating under duress. I would suggest having the front suspension checked for any seized or failing ball joints or control arm problems. Most suspension guys will give the undercarriage a look over for you for free to check for any failing/unsafe parts. The engine belt driving the power steer pump should also be checked in case it needs adjustment.
