Could be the fuel pump, it's a pretty common failure. The electric pump is in the tank. When you turn the key to the run position you should be able to hear a faint hum or buzzing from the tank. If it does not sound like its running (need to have it absolutely quiet to hear pump) check for a blown fuse. Sometimes they will have one last gasp in them and you can get them to work by banging on the bottom of the tank while someone else turns the key. I have had this work several times but not always. It will do two things for you, saves a tow bill, and confirms the pump is bad. If that does get it going drive it straight to you mechanic, you wont get a second chance.

1999 chevy Tahoe wont start but turns over

Your fuel pressure can be checked by connecting a fuel test gauge up to fuel test port which will be located on the fuel rail at the back of the engine on drivers side next to the distributor.Your fuel pressure should be 60-66 psi with key on engine off.If its not within these specs then replace the fuel pump and filter.

I have fuel in gas tank-after shutting off will not start unless I put gas into fuel tank. Is it a fuel filter issue. or?

Just a question. Do you run your car on empty. If so that could be your problem with an empty tank you are sucking all the dirt through the filter and making it plug up. It is better to keep your tank above half full and does not cost any more than to run on empty. All mechanics will tell you to always keep your tank above half full.

Truck acts like it is running out of gas? Replaced fuel filter. Ran fine for awhile but now still acts like it is starving for fuel.

my '93 f-250 (4.9L) stopped running while driving, now it acts like it isn't getting any fuel. Tried switching tanks, but still does the same. What would be the problem.

Car wont start! has full tank of gas, battery is fine!

Ensure that your fuel pump is okay. You might need to make a change on that cos that will definately be the cause.
