Last sumer, when it is really hot out, our 93 Villager would stop runing after seting for about 20 min. it starts and run fine, this kept happening all summer. All winter no problem. Now this summer it is happening again. We thout it had vapor lock, how ever I have been told that that does not happen to cars anymore and that it is an ignition problem. How to I find what is causeing this

Over 90 degrees the car stalls out and won't restart unless it cools down (10-15 minutes) will run again and repeat the process. Under 90 degrees it never does this.

I've owned a 96 Villager and a 97 Villager that both exhibited this problem on occaision. As I understand it the fuel pump is weak. When ambient temperature is high the gas line is subject to vapor lock. Usually my car gave a warning acting like it was running out of fuel in repeated fits. I had about 10 minutes to find a good place to pull off the road. That is why a 15-20 minute wait eliminates the problem. You can solve it by replacing the fuel pump with a higher rating. I personally chose not to spend the money and have put up with the few times a year the problem crops up.

You most likely have a bad fuel pump. Very common symptoms your describing, If your handy try squirting some brake cleaner into the throttle body when this happens. If it starts you now know what to do. Also be sure the battery terminals are clean. Voltage drops can cause a fuel pump not to run or run ineffeciently.
