Crank shaft sensors often fail without triggering a code. But in its early stages, a check engine light may be on. Symtoms of a bad crank sensor are: poor acceleration ( lack of power ) rough idle, ETC. sometimes you may be able to start it normally, and other times it takes 3 or more times. If the check engine light is on take it to a auto parts store and thy can read the code for free. To tell if that's the problem. God-Bless!
The computer has lost its memory for idle control possibly.Try this, crank the truck and shut is off.Do this as many as 20 times , each time try to leave it running for 2 or 3 seconds so you can see if it will idle on its own.Do this till it relearns base idle.
Might be two problems, but one is your igniter in the distributor. The second, the idling problem is either your throttle position sensor, or a vacuum leak. With the engine running , check all hoses for leaks by wiggling them around, while listening for a hissing. Check intake bolts for tightness.
try turning the ignition on try to start then without shutting key off wait 10 mins then shut key off then back on but do not try starting leave on for ten mins then back off turn key back on to run but do not try starting it wait ten mins then if it reset it should crank over and start if not repeat all steps again
replace the distributor oil is leaking into the electronics of the distributor and shorting out pull cap back off and look and see if oil is leaking out
