Removing front wheel stud on 82 AMC Eagle

Get new studs to replace what you remove because the only way to get them out is to drive them out to the inside with a hammer. Then pull in new studs with the wheel nuts till they seat.

Interchangeable rear amc eagle

Rear axles on all AMC Eagles interchange with each other, regardless of year. Jeep Cherokee (compact XJ models) will interchange, but the shock mounts are different - Jeep mounts must be cut and welded, at least on one side. Make sure the axle ratio is the same as the front axle ratio, or the same as the axle you're replacing.

WE have a 1984 AMC eagle with 258 six engine when we move the leaver over to 4x4 it's not going in four wheel drive, and diagrams or advice would be great. ...

well what was told is that my1984 eagle stationwagon, that if the 4x4 does not engage it is due to vacuum lines from the motor and the trany. these lines dry out and crack and vibration causes them to crack and the tight spots there in does not let you see or fix them to easy.

Late for everything...

Do you have any idea what ignition system it has, as there were 2 or 3 used in around those years on the AMC products. If it's the HEI system, I'd suspect (1) pickup coil in distributor, or (2) module in distributor. If it's not HEI, let us know and we can help further.

Need info on belt and pully alignment for 1983 amc 258 with a/c and can the ac unit pully system be bypassed

The a/c can be bypassed. When you go to the auto parts store tell them you want the belts for that engine without a/c. They can look it up in a book and get a part number that will give you the right belts. Hope this helps.

The belt keeps coming loose on my 1985 amc eagle wagon. Apparently, this belt also charges the battery. So my battery went dead, and the car makes squeaking sounds...

You need to replace the alternator belt.they have a bolt which you loosen the belt. the belt probably got loose because this "tension" bolt was not properly tightened. the noise you hear is the belt slipping on the pullies. to replace it loosen the tension bolt until it is lose enough to remove the old belt. replace the belt with one of the same thickness and length. Be sure to tighten the bolt to where the belt will have about a 1/2 inch pressing down on it firmly with your thumb. you may have to remove some other components ( the fan for example) to replace the belt but thats questionable.

WIRING DIAGRAM FOR 1984 AMC EAGLE

well you have several options you can go to a dealship and have them copy the diagram for you(i do this all the time) or you can purchase a repair manual at Napa or Oreilly's for around 20 bucks. it has diagrams and schematics in it. it also has alot of instructions in it so you can do repairs yourself. By the way i'm surprised that the mechanic doesn't have these diagrams himself. I was wandering why it won't start after you changed the plugs and wires could it be that maybe the firing order is wrong. i've done that myself a time or 2. double check the the plug wires to make sure they are in the right spot. if the problem is it won't crank. chances are you have a loose ground. please rate this..thanks
