2006 Dodge Grand Caravan - EGR code

2006 Dodge Grand Caravan - 3.3L - code 0406 - exhaust gas recirculation sensor A circuit high

engine light comes on then goes off, comes on again a couple of days later, etc.

Is sensor in EGR valve assembly or located elsewhere?

Should I just replace EGR valve?

Leave on vacation Friday AM - expect to put on 1200 miles.

Thanks

Did you unplug the negative cable on your battery for two minutes? When you do this it should clear the code. You may experience some issues for the first fifteen minutes of driving while the computer relearns from the new EGR.

I have a 2006 Dodge Magnum that the engine light is on the trouble code is 0406 any thoughts on what the code stands for or why my engine light is on.

  • Gas sensor re circulation sensor "A" Circuit High.
  • Replace the EGR and the solenoid (come with it) and this will fix the problem.

I have a dodge grand caravan 2006 with trouble codes p0126 and p0406 what does that mean? and how can I fix it?

Hi, sorry I don't have a manual for your van but here is some general information for these codes.

P0126 Insufficient Coolant Temperature for Stable Operation:

basically, the engine is running cool. Check your thermostat to see if it's closing properly. If it is closed when removed, you may want to get a higher temp thermostat. The thermostat is usually in a housing bolted to the engine at the end of the upper radiator hose.

P0406 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High:

This indicates the EGR position sensor signal is out of range. The problem could be the wiring or the sensor itself. Check the wiring first. If it looks good, consider replacing the sensor. I think in your van the sensor may be integrated into the EGR valve itself.

2007 Dodge Grand Caravan Engine Light Code P 0405 ?

P0405 is an Exhaust Gas Recirculation fault. This could be a faulty valve. You could try cleaning the valve first, chances are it will need to be replaced in the long run. Hope this helps...

Egr code what does it mean

if its the 3.3 then the code would be--0406 egr sensor A curcuit high--- the common fix is to change the egr valve assembly which includes the egr transducer. This egr valve has also a high failure rate and you can check this out by calling the Dodge parts dealer. good-luck !! once egr valve is replaced. have light turned off with scanner. because if it stays on, pcm thinks it still has the problem. it will not send right info to pcm.

What will be wrong if I got code p0406 and p 404

both codes po406 and po404 refer to a fault in the EGR system
Po404 > Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circuit Range/Performance not within proper range.
Po406> Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High (meaning the circuit is open or disconnected)
Without actualy checking the voltages (wiring)
Replace the EGR valve
clear codes
test drive

2005 Dodge caravan 3.2 code 406? is this an

This code is for the EGR valve, "P0406 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit High", this doesn't necesarily mean you need to change your EGR valve but it's probable. Check with your dealer this just might still be covered.
