Recheck your spark and make sure you are getting spark at each cylinder. Check the fuel pressure by popping off one of the gas line and see how strong the flow is, if you have a weak flow your fuel pump isnt operating properly or you have a clogged fuel filter. Give that a try and let me know if that works if not I will take you to the next step.

My '99 chevy truck with 5,7L 350 will start but wont stay running. put new fuel pump and relay switch in

First you must determine if the fuel is stopping or the spark is stopping..If the fuel is stopping this could be a computer problem.. If the spark is stopping then it could be the IGN Module in the distributer. or any nomber of sensors. Squirt a little fuel directly into the Throttle body on the intake manifold.. If the truck runs longer its probably loss of fuel.. Do this several times to make sure, be careful and only use a small amounty of fuel.. you do not want a fire.. RE: Spark: Take a plug wire and an old plug..put the wire on the plug.. hold the plug against a good ground .. have someone crank the engine .. does the plug stop firing? The engine dies.. and will not restart for a minuet or so.. during this "no start" time do the plug test. If the plug will not fire during this time take the module out and take it to Orillys Auto parts.. They can test it.. really expensive part. Don't replace until you know it is BAD..

My lexus sc400 wont start

You are in a position where you need to test the fuel source. There is usually a "port" on the fuel injector rail which is used to test the fuel pressure. There are pressure gauges to borrow at Autoloan, Oreillys, Advance, or similar.

Where the difference is in testing is how the ECU may be broken. Using starting fluid, if the engine fires and attempts to run, then the firing order is okay and for some reason, the fuel system is dry. But if the engine makes no attempt to fire with starting fluid, then it is a spark problem and probably the ECU.

A person with a Scanner should be able to get a signal from the car if there is either defect. Something severe enough to prevent starting should make a warning light activate to "check engine" or a wrench symbol to appear on the dash.

1990 toyota celica fuel problem. It appears to be flooding. When cranking, if it has been sitting for a while, it fires for just a second, and then dies. When the fuel pump is unplugged, and engine...

start with trying to start the car with your foot hard on gas pedal, all the way to the floor this will stop fuel flow on start up its called clear flood mode. as the engine starts to fire and run ease off the pedal until it idles, it may take some time to run smoothly. if it doesnt run or stalls after a short time and then will not run i would try a ECU engine control unit as it supplies the earth circuit to the injectors, may be thats whats holding them open or they are dribbling badly and require overhauling

Wont start, no spark anywhere

Check the spark, remove the fuse to the fuel pump and remove one of the spark plugs. Connect the plug to its lead and position it well away from the engine against the truck frame (do not hold it) and turn the engine over, check the spark. If no spark it most probably a faulty coil. Check the impedance of the spark plug leads and replace any that are much higher than the rest. My guess is that you have spark but no fuel, What?... OK this is what I think is wrong. Your pump is fine when at position 2 on the ignition switch however when you switch to position three to fire the engine the power to the fuel pump is momentarily disconnected. A leaking fuel pressure regulator or injector would drop the pressure in the fuel line and at the same time flood the engine making it impossible to start. Once you start the engine with ether the ignition is back to position 2 and the pump can make good any loss in pressure but because the intake mix is rich this will cause the engine to run rich too. A good fuel system is capable of delivering 40 - 50PSI of fuel pressure and when switched off up to 90% of this pressure should be maintained for about 5 minutes, if it cannot check out the fuel pressure regulator and injectors. The fuel pipe should be capable of filling a pint pot in about 15 seconds, if it cannot check out the fuel filter is clogged.
Hope the above gives you some pointers

Wont start getting fire and fuel it just runs over til the batter dies

ok since you didn't give alot of information like the year and the engine
i'm going to assume that it is fuel injected
i know you said it is getting fuel did you check the fuel pressure
i know you said it has fire did you use a spark tester it may have spark but not enough to fire a spark tester
and if all that is ok fuel pressure and it will fire a spark tester then check the compression
next time the more information you can give the better chance we have of helping you

Wont start does turn over has fuel pressure and

Hi,
I don't know what year, engine etc... but I can offer an idea or two for some basics:
1. Make sure your firing order is correct.
2. Check your timing.
(If you think good, make sure your not 180 out.. in case you pulled the distributor earlier)
3. Check compression. (I've had vavles stick before)
Hope some of this helps... Good luck

Won't start because it doesn't fire. Starter and alternator are fine...

the starter and alternator have nothing to do with fire. if the engine turns over but wont run, the stater, battery are ok. there are several things to check, spark to spark plugs? fuel pressure? fuel injector pulse? a shop will need to verify and recommend repairs
