WORLD STANDARD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID -- TC010-07 June 28, 2007

S 100,000 Maintenance Interval - Inspection only; ATF-WS does NOT require any

flushing or changing during the life of the vehicle.

S The use of Genuine Toyota ATF-WS is recommended.

S The use of additives or aftermarket fluids that are considered compatible

or substitutes may result in shift concerns and damage to the internal

transmission components.

S ATF-WS is NOT compatible with T-IV or Dexron ATF.

S Containers storing Toyota ATF-WS should always be sealed - If exposed to the

atmosphere, ATF-WS may absorb moisture and potentially cause shift concerns if

used in operation.

S One time use only.

S When performing repairs on ATF-WS equipped transaxles, it is important to use

only new, clean ATF--WS when refilling the ATM.

S ATF-WS equipped ATMs may use the overflow type procedure - Any fluid

drained from the overflow plug should be discarded following proper local

regulations and never reused. Failure to do so could result in shift concerns and

damage to the internal transmission components.

Check you transmission fluid for proper levels. If ok, have the transmission oil and filter changed!! If that doesnt remedy the issue, its possible the transmission needs to be replaced or rebuilt!!

My toyota rav4 engine has knocking sound

Unusual for Toyota, have you checked your oil level? If it is a loud knocking, it could be a bad piston in the engine. Did you overheat the car at any point? The alloy head can warp easily if you get the engine too hot. Also check your coolant level to see if you are losing fluid. If the oil is white looking you have a serious issue with coolant mixing with the oil. Is it still under warranty for the powertrain, engine, transmission etc.?

What maintenace Does a 2003 Toy Rav4 manual transmission need?

The manual transmission oil, or gear box oil can't last forever. It is a good idea to replace every 60K miles with a new one. Just as with motor oil, and oil change is cheap insurance. Buy synthetic oil if you can.
The manual transmission oil change is a simple procedure, but can complicated and creates costly problems.
First remove the filling bolt. In some cases this is siezed, If the heating doesn't help, you don't want a stripped filler bolt, with an empty transmission. Use WD-40 and do not use extensive force.
If the bolt still won't budge. Stop. Lower the car and visit a shop for service.
After removing the filler bolt (upper), then remove the drain bolt at the bottom.
Replace the drain bolt, with a new one, normally has a magnet, and thread it by hand after with a wrench.
Fill the gearbox with oil using a gear oil / lube pump. Replace the filling bolt and process same as with draining bolt.
If you will change the gear box oil every 60K miles this is the best insurance for your manual transmission. DO NOT FORGET TO REPLACE FILLING AND DRAINING BOLTS WITH NEW ONE.
In rare cases a rusty bolt is siezed, almost rust welded in the transmission housing, so the transmission must be removed and taken to a machine shop.

1994 rav4 tramission oil change

you can do that by removing the transmission oil drain plug and drain the oil to the last drop but make sure the oil is cooled off before draining it, serious burn could happen (just a precaution) return the plug, tighten it but do not overtight as it could damage the plug, refill oil with correct ATF designed for your car.
