When it tries to turn over does it crank freely? does it cough and backfire? How many miles on this car? before you sit and crank on this you should check the timing belt for anything like belt loose bad pulleys, check connections at starter for corrosion or loose connection,as well as batt connection and cables. did this run fine and the next time you tried to start it failed ? Has it done this a couple times before but started and got worse till now? after you make sure belt and idlers are satisfactory, check starter for operation, then check fuel supply, then check spark plugs for spark. BUT,before you perform any checks, hook a battery charger up to battery and charge while doing inspection and tests.

It is cranking freely. It doesn't cough or backfire. 100,000 miles. Batt and such seems to be connected well. Could it be fuel filter or pump?

okay, then my next search would be, pull # 1 spark plug and rest on engine so electrode is on metal, crank motor. Is plug getting spark, and then is motor getting fuel? do you have manual for this car? does this vehicle have a fuel shut off switch? I assume this car is fuel injected ! well on the fuel rail there should be a valve that looks like a valve stem on a tire, turn ignition on and fuel pump should prime, take a pointed object and stick it in this stem,(watch your eyes) is fuel coming out? if not check for fuel shut off switch, pump relay, fuses. AIR,FUEL,SPARK. USUALLYcar would still start with bad filter, it would just stall after run for a minute due to starvation or on acceleration would not reach higher rpm.

If 1) the car has gas
2) and you can hear fuel pump( or fuel rail has pressure)
3) and cranks but doesn't start

You most likely have a bad CKP (crank position sensor)
It's under the starter meaning you have to remove the starter
to get to it.

Car wont starte

Take the battery and have it load tested. Most places that sell car batteries can do this for you. The battery may not have the amperage to start the vehicle even though it has the proper voltage.

Car wont start, seems like battery went dead

If the car doesn't start with a jump you might have a bad alternator. The alternator supplies voltage to the car once the engine is running. If the battery is dead, and the alternator isn't putting out sufficient voltage, the engine cannot run. Then again sometimes a car with an extremely dead or internally shorted battery WON'T start with a jump. Replace the battery and try again.

2005 sedona won't start all of a sudden. Doesn't make a sound except for a tiny whirring sound like the feul injectors. Replaced starter...still won't start. checked all fuses...they are good....

you could just have dead cell in the battery which isn't getting enough amps to the starter,, have the battery LOAD checked,, that will tell you if the battery is actually good, just because it registers 12 volts isn't necessarily an indication that the required amps are present.

I have a 2002 c 320 battery isn,t dead but car won,t start.I even changed the battery and still the same it also did the same thing last week but started after an hour or so

under what condition the car won't start?
is it when the car set over night, a few hours or after a few minutes.
does it make any noise or click when you try to start?
does the engine even turn over at all or just silent?
if nothing happen then may be the starter, switch or fuse.
if the engine turn but won't run then may be the ignition system or fuel system.

94 pathfinder wont start seems like dead battery but is charged t

If you have had the battery checked, attempted to jump start or know for a fact that the battery is new and/or should not be dead....you may want to have your alternator checked out - it may need replaced. When alternators go bad they mimic the effects of a dead battery (tries to turn over, battery light comes on, etc.) Hope that helps - you can pick one up and install yourself for around $150 bucks or 400-500 to have someone else do it for you.
