with not knowing what engine is in your vehicle its not easy to answer but normally the plug gaps can stay the same has a gas/petrol engine normally 1 to 1.4 mm if you have got the owners manual then use the plug gaps in the manual a slightley larger gap can give a small advantage but if it runs ok on standard gaps leave it alone
I'd use the type spark plug recommended by your owners manual, the manual may also give you the gap. There may be a decal under your hood that gives this info. Anywhere you buy sparks will have the gap in the info. For one ngk plug I looked at, it said .043in gap.
Different spark plugs manufacturers may have different gap recommendations.
It really depends on the spark plug being used. But if you stick to the origninal spark plug NGK TR5A-10 it is supposed to be gapped a 1.0 mm since Ford has issued an in house service directive to reduce the gap from 1.3 mm (original) to 1.0 mm (present) 0.03936996
These were still early times for the then new...HEI ignition...The factory was using a 60 mm gap...most mechanics used a 45 mm gap, as the 60 mm was proving to wide for peak performance...I highly recommend the 45 mm gap on your spark plug gapping tool...be sure the electrode is still perfectly straight with the tip when measuring...:)
