I changed the factory radio out for an after market one and now the key fob will not lock the car or turn on the alarm. When I push any button on the fob (lock unlock) the alarm beeps 3 times and nothing else happens. I talked to the BMW dealership and they said that is because one of the switches ( hood, trunk, door, or top) was not making up. I tested all the switches and all are good. I have the manual and I found a reference to a radio antitheft switch/ devise, but of course it was not in the prints, would this cause my problem or should I look elsewhere?

There is an anti-theft switch on the rear radio mounting bracket. The factory radio has a ~2" rod sticking out the back of it that goes through a hole in the mounting bracket. The switch is behind this hole. Remove the 2-wire connector from the right hand side of this bracket and leave it removed. That might help.

No, the anti theft device is for the radio itself, usually a 4-5 digit code to be put back into the source unit once it has lost power and reset. the problem sounds like u have an issue with the BCM ( body contol module) i would ask BMW to use their scan tool to scan for codes and then to link the code to the problem. it could be something simple as your key fob may just have to be reprogramend. I have heard of that happening in the 3 series coupes and with those it was the lock actuator that was failing. If you do not have confidence with bmw then an auto elec should be able to problem solve for you. although i dare say a bmw dealership should be able to fix it quickly for you once you tell them what to do.
cheers

Hi

If you have wired the radio with the "Red" live and the "Ignition live" Yellow" together as in some cases you have to depanding on the radio make then it can upset the power to the alrm and central locking, take a look at the wiring or get back to me with the make of the car radio ?

The dealer is right about the switches though this is very common, it is nearly always the hood / bonet switch. it might look fine but they can jem up internally, have you greased them all up with wd40 ?

regards
Dan

I actually took the hoot switch off and checked it with a meter it works fine.

As to the wireing I did put the red and the yellow together but later seperated them because i didn't want the raido to run down the battery.

The make of the radio is a Kenwood. If you are familiar with the harness plug there are two plugs one with the plug that controls the speakers and amp and the small one at the bottom which was hooked to the stock radio but now is not connected to anything. Is that small plug supposed to be plugged into anything?

    Hi
does the car have an electric aerial ? if so then that last plug may be for the aerial, this would normally go down when you press the fob. Get back to me if thats not the case.
    Regards
    Dan

I assume the factory alarm was somehow bypassed when they installed the remote start is there a way I can make the factory alarm work when the doors are opened without key,?

To arm content theft alarm.
1. Open the door.
2. Lock the door with the power door lock switch or
the remote keyless entry transmitter. The
SECURITY light should flash.
3. Close all doors. The SECURITY light should go off
after approximately 30 seconds. The alarm is not
armed until the SECURITY light goes off.

If a locked door is opened without the key or the remote keyless entry transmitter, the alarm will go off. The headlamps and parking lamps will flash for two minutes, and the horn will sound for 30 seconds, then will turn off to save the battery power.

My 1997 jeep grand Cherokee alarm system keep arming itself about a minute after car is turned off even if car is unlocked with windows down can someone help

Speaking from prior experience, It's possible that the door lock latch assembly may need replacing usually the drivers side or the lift gate latch assembly. These are the 2 that can arm & disarm the alarm system. You may have a faulty switch in either of these. Hope this helps.

2005 toyota corolla verso remote won't unlock

This one you may be stuck paying the 50 dollars but what I would do first is contact the manufacturer of the remote control. I would bet they will help you out. The other option is to go to an after market installer of car alarms that is a bit smaller. They will most likely help you in the hopes of you coming back for further business.

Changed oil and cleaned battery cables.Started car up. Ran for 2 seconds security alarm went off car shut down.no power to fuel pump.Is there some way to reset the fuel pump

You need to reset the alarm system. That can be done with the remote entry key fob or by locking then unlocking the drivers door with the ignition key with all doors closed. This is for a factory alarm system. Also check the inertia switch, should be in the trunk,on the side with a push button top.Push button. If already down its not tripped.

Ford focus rs alarm trouble

if its a factory alarm you put the key in and quickly turn the key on and of i cant remember if its 8 or 9 times but the horn will chirp then you push the lock and unlock on the fob the locks should respond then turn key off and your done. note that if you have more than one fob you have to press lock and unlock on all of them before you turn the key off and i believe you only have about fifteen seconds to do so if not let me know i will look it up at work

Program a fob for a 1996 honda civic ex

If you still have the factory keyless entry for your civic, the stock radio is still located within the car. Most likely it is located behind the center console. There is a button on the radio between the AM/FM and CD buttons. Turn the ignition on without starting the car, hold the button down and push any button on the fob to program the fob.

Factory alarm

Sounds like it has an after market alarm in it? Some times you can unhook the battery and then put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position and them hook up the battery with the key on and this will clear the alarm. If it is a factory unit you may be able to use the key in the door locks to shut it off or try the same thing as the aftermarket reset.Don't short anything that can fry things. If it is a factory alarm with keyless entry, you should buy a key fob and program it and avoid future problems. You can program this by cycling the key on and off either 6 or 8 times, ( can't remember) and the door locks will lock and unlock on thier own to let you know you are in program mode push the lock button on the remote and it will lock and unlock again to let you know it is programed. Hope this helps....Dan
