My abs, vsc, trakoff, unbalanced tire, break, but not the check engine lights all came on all of a sudden, went off when I took the gas cap off

Interesting. Which car has an unbalanced tire warning light? A problem with the wheel speed sensor will trigger several warning lights. When you turned the engine off to check your fuel cap, the sensor reset and lights went out. As you keep driving the sensor will trigger the alerts again.

2007. Why did check engine light and VSC message come on?

Your VSC system doesn't have anything to do with your gas cap, unfortunately. You're going to either need an OBD2 Scanner to read the messages for your check engine light or take it to a mechanic/dealership to read the code and reset that light. You can also go to Autozone if memory serves and borrow a scanner to see the codes. You can pick up scanners from amazon for 10-50 USD, or about 40 USD from Autozone. Your VSC system not working means that you're not going to have optimal stability while driving until you can get the system operational again. Note that since it's Toyota Proprietary, you will not be able to read the VSC codes with the scanner, just the standard check engine codes. If your vehicle's braking system still seems to work, it could be a sensor malfunction, but I would recommend you take your vehicle to a Toyota dealership (unfortunately) to see if they can find the fault. Don't let them BS you either... http://www.greenhybrid.com/forums/f49/check-vsc-system-warning-dealer-says-normal-display-20826/index2.html

I had blinking vsc code and check engin light on. Took it to a dealer who ran diagnotic. Dealer said gas cap has failed and new charcoal canister is needed. Since the high cost of latter, I simply...

Don't worry about that light, if performance and fuel economy is good. The light is still a fault from the evaporative canister.. It should not affect performance. Just make sure the fuel cap is snug. Just perform The ODBII scan periodically to catch any future problems. The vacume diaphragm for canister purge should be unplugged and the vacume hose plugged. This will avoid engine from sucking fuel into the engine due to a ruptured diaphragm in the canister

If you have MIL get the codes scanned, at least they will help point you at the real cause of the problem. For the moment ignore the VSC warning until the MIL has been successfully diagnosed and cured. Nine times out of ten curing the MIL will resolve the VSC warning.

LS430 check VSC light on after check engine light on

My car (06 GS430) began giving me more frequent "Check VSC" warnings. (Code P0455 in my case. Really glad I bought that OBDII tool--resetting the codes is a snap!)

I knew that a loose gas cap could cause this, so normally I just give it a twist and it tightens. Now I found that no matter how many "clicks" I tightened the gas cap, it would not cinch down snug. The lightest turn the opposite way would open it.

I was all set to head over to CarQuest for a replacement filler cap. But I thought I'd inspect mine first just to see why it stopped holding. Upon inspection, I saw that what holds the cap in place is compression of the rubber O-ring at the back of the cap, which compresses against the filler neck. That apparently was no longer happening.

I carefully removed the O-ring from the cap--using screwdrivers to lift it over the edge of the groove it sits in. Like removing a bike tire from the rim--work your way around. Then I cut a strip of electrical tape about 10" long, and 1/4" wide. I wound this into the curved groove where the O-ring normally sits, just to build up a little thickness. Put the O-ring back in place. Done.

Now the cap tightens like it's supposed to, and thus far, it has stopped the VSC error codes. Don't know if it will fix your issue or not, Good luck.

I recieved the following Warning lights: VSC and Engine Check

You have an issue with the engine. The other lights come on when the Check Engine light comes on. The most common reason for the Ck Engine light on is a loose gas cap. If the cap is tight, you will need to find someone who can scan the car's ECU and give you the DTC code. Without the code, we cannot provide any more ionfor at this time.Get the code and get back to us; then we can solve the problem.

2001 Lexus LS 430 the VSC off light and check engine warning light remains on

Apparently, the most common cause is a loose gas tank cap. It has to be tightened until it clicks. Other, more serious faults can cause this indication, but the loose cap issue is widespread. Hopefully, that's all it is in your case!
