I have a 2004 A4 and the EBS indicator comes on occasionally for about the past two months. I have read a little bit of the manual and it seems although ABS is a component of EBS , the indicator does not mean I have a brake problem. Is there something I should have checked, like possibly a wire oro other type of connection ?

SOURCE: Changed brake pads and fluid. Brake light/ABS light still lit.

Go back around and check to make sure you didnt accidentally pinch or cut a brake pad sensor. Also the ABS modules on VAG cars are pretty crappy.

Sounds like your security system thinks your stealing it. Try locking and unlocking manually. Jump starting can sometimes damage electronics not usually a good idea. It is better to disconnect the battery and charge it then reconnect it. You may have blown the EBS fuse which may be mounted ont the ebs computer.
