HOW TO FIX GEAR SHIFT STUCK IN PARK? HYUNDAI ACCENT

Make sure the brake lights are coming on if not the release solenoid that unlocks park gets no power and will not release the shifter from park position. Also check the owner's manual for a possible way to override the solenoid lock.

You do have your foot on the brake when trying to shift ehh. If so could be a faulty brake to shifter cable.
Remove the center console and check that applying the brake de-activates the lock on the shifter

try taking the gear stick out could be just a broken spring in gear select

The shift lock solenoid attached to the interiors shifter near the cable is at fault
You need to replace it or disengage all apperatis to eliminate its functions
This solenoid is used only when you apply your foot on the brake so it releases to shift. It will be located inside the console near the gate for the park lock area. I always disconnect the plastic arm and remove it so I never need to depress the brake to shift

Shifter needs an adjustment or a new cable.

Check the automatic transmission fluid (with the engine idling on a flat surface). I suspect it may be low.

hello, if these are sort like nissian sentry, they have a switch , when you put foot on brake you can put it in gear, if myou dont put foot on brake the shiftr will not move, check and see if you have a safety switch on the gear shifter, you can call auto part, or dealer they would tell you..

check for the brake switch if this doesnt work wont release from park if this ok then i will check the shifter cable check for power and ground

mine did the same, you need to stick a pen, or in my case a pair of scissors in the shift over-ride.
