Where is the power steering fluid located on a 2006 buick la crosse

On the 2006 G6, it is mounted to the power steering pump near the alternator. Remove the dipstick from the reservoir. The fluid level should be in the cross-hatched area of the dipstick. Add small amount of power steering fluid until the level is correct.

The power steering fluid level is indicated by marks on a fluid level indicator. The fluid level indicator is located on the fluid reservoir cap. Inspect the fluid level when the engine compartment is cool. Ensure that the fluid level is at the FULL COLD mark. When the engine compartment is hot, ensure that the fluid level is at the HOT mark.

Sounds like it is time for a new power steering pump.

the lights are flashing because of the theft system. try turning the steering wheel as hard as you can from left to right to get the key to turn

The power sterring fluid goes directly into the top of the pump located on the pully side of the engine. Once you've located the power steering filler cap - which is on the passenger side just behind and under the alternator (I had to use a flashlight to find mine but it's visible if you lean over the front fender - passenger side) - the rest was easy. There is a cross brace by the firewall that I had to remove so I could get to the filler cap. The cross brace is held on by 4 nuts - 1/2" or 13mm - and removing them and the brace allows fairly easy access to the filler cap. Remove the cap and fill. I'd recommend using a small funnel since it's virtually impossible to get the power steering fluid bottle behind the alternator and around several hoses. A funnel made it a cinch. Check to be sure you don't over fill, replace the cross brace and you're finished.

Yes, this is an indicator the pump is low on fluid or failing. Check your fluid level, if that is good then replace the pump.

The noise from the power steering unit can be from wear,the only way to eliminate the noise,is to replace the unit.
