Sometimes you can reset a bad one go to the throttle body inplug it start it the engine light will come on shut it off and plug it back in try it again
run the fault codes to ensure that the EGR valve is faulty. Engine lights to not always come on unless there is something drastic going on with the engine /gearbox so that you can stop the car before damage is done.
Check your fuel pump for adequate pressure. Also the fuel filter could be clogged. If your car has more than 60,000 miles it probably needs a new fuel pump.
possibly a vacuum leak , or external coil, the coil could be braking down due to heat and age of coil, i have had some that had bad coils and the engine would not want to restart untill cooled down, does' your engine light come on, if so , you need to have a code tester to check for trouble codes that the computer might have picked up if any, hope that this information was helpful.
Go to any auto parts store and get two bottles of a fuel additive called seafoam. Pour one bottle in when you refill your tank the next two times. problem solved.
