Yeah it could a defective computer. or it could be the catalytic converter, a bad oxygen sensor, or a burned exhaust valve. oxygen sensors can be really screwy though. ive had 2 cars get check engine lights because of the oxygen sensor. so i would definitely check that. if you already have though i would be leaning towards a faulty computer.

Why is my 2013 dodge avenger 3.6L V6 still giving a cyclinder2 misfire after I have changed my coils, park plugs, and the wires

If you're still experiencing a cylinder 2 misfire in your 2013 Dodge Avenger 3.6L V6 after replacing the coils, spark plugs, and wires, there are a few potential causes to consider: 1. Fuel Injector Issue: A malfunctioning or clogged fuel injector can cause a misfire in a specific cylinder. Check the fuel injector for cylinder 2 and ensure it is functioning properly. It may require cleaning or replacement. 2. Compression Problem: Low compression in cylinder 2 can lead to a misfire. Perform a compression test to check the compression levels in all cylinders. If cylinder 2 shows significantly lower compression, it may indicate issues with the valves, piston rings, or cylinder head gasket. 3. Ignition Timing: Incorrect ignition timing can cause misfires. Ensure the ignition timing is set correctly according to the manufacturer's specifications. 4. Vacuum Leak: A vacuum leak near cylinder 2 can disrupt the air-fuel mixture and lead to a misfire. Inspect the vacuum lines and intake manifold for any leaks or loose connections. 5.Engine Control Module (ECM) Issue: A faulty ECM can incorrectly trigger a misfire code. Consider having the ECM scanned for any error codes or anomalies related to cylinder 2.

I have a 2008 dodge avenger se and my engine light is on and was flashing before. when it is in drive or park it turns off when i stop. i took it to auto zone and the told me that cylinder 3 and 4 misfire...

Possible causes:
Faulty spark plug
Clogged or faulty fuel injector
Faulty ignition coil
Fuel injector
Harness is open or shorted
Fuel injector circuit has poor electrical connection
Ignition coil harness is open or shorted
Ignition coil circuit poor electrical connection
Insufficient cylinder compression
Incorrect fuel pressure
Intake air leak

The P0304 code means that the cylinder 4 is misfiring or is randomly misfiring. Start by checking for intake leaks and if no leaks are found the next step is to replace the spark plugs on cylinder 4.

CHECK FUEL INJECTOR WIRING TO NUMBER 4 INJECTOR,HOOK A TEST LIGHT TO MAKE SURE IT BLINKS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING.THAT WAY YOU WILL KNOW IF PCM FIRING THE FUEL INJECTOR OR FAULT AT THE INJECTOR WIRING OR YOU HAVE INTAKE LEAK LOW COMPRESSION TO THAT CYLINDER BECAUSE OF BAD BURNED OUT VALVE.COMPRESSION TEST TO THAT CYLINDER CAN ALSO HELP.LOOK FOR LOOSE OR WORN DAMAGE ROCKER ARMS IF YOU HAVE A SOHC SINGLE OVER HEAD CAM ENGINE.

I just purchased an 2003 neon se its idling rough and in gear at a stop. As well as sometimes it hesitates and no acceleration. we've changes the motor mount, new spark plugs and wires, 02 censors and have...

I would recommend a compression test on all cylinders, compression should be near 150 psi. What you want to look for is one or more cylinders with compression that is slightly lower than the rest. I have seen literally dozens of these vehicles with burnt valves causing misfire codes to set. If no problem is found with the compression test, test the spark output from the coil.

P0301 - Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected.

Possible Causes:
- Improper spark plug at cylinder #1
- Insufficient compression at cylinder #1
- Incorrect fuel pressure
- The injector circuit is open or shorted at cylinder #1
- Fuel injector #1 may be faulty
- Intake air leak at cylinder

Possible Solutions:
- Perform Injector Service
- Replaced Spark Plug #1
- Replaced Injector #1
- Replaced Ignition Coil #1

Being you have a heavy gas smell I would look into the injectors. If injector #1 is over producing it can cause a misfire. Test your compression and fuel pressure.
