The switch is bad. It is mounted to the pull down latch. Black plastic with one screw and a clip holding it on. I got a new one from a dealership for 32 bucks. Put it on myself. Remove the screw and unhook wires and the clip. Pulls straight up..

I have the exact same problem. Trunk latch catches but it doesn't comedown. Eventually it come down by itself. I've disconnected the electrical connections and cleaned them but didn't improve the operation.
I have same problem with a 1993 Park Avenue. The trunk will latch but the motor won't pull it down tight. The dealer wanted over 600$ to fix it.
My 1994 Cadillac DeVille automatic close trunk latch stopped working. I need the lower (pull-down) unit. I can't find a used one anywhere is there a specific name or part number that I could use to do a search online for it?
I TRIED TO CLOSE MY TRUNK THE OTHER DAY AND IT WOULD NOT. I FINALLY HAD TO SLAM IT WITH ALL MY MIGHT JUST FOR IT TO CLOSE. I HAVE TO DO THIS EVERYTIME UNTIL I GET IT FIXED.
