During the summer, it is NOT the heater core unless your car is a sauna. If it is only on the passenger side, I'll also bet it only happens when the air conditioner runs. Look under the car around the firewall on the passenger side for a small tube hanging down. This will be the drain for condensation on the AC. Carefully poke a wire up this hose to clear the blockage.

If it is coolant? You have a bad Heater core. If it is just water? You have a bad Hood seal or a bad firewall seal.
Please give me good feedback on here. As i am trying to help more and more people for free.

This can be caused by a couple different things. You could have leaky door seals or rubber water seals, or you can have a leaky air conditioner compressor that can leak.

Does it have a sunroof? if so check your drains which are located in the corners of the sunroof opening (glass will have to be open to see them) if the drains are plugged find a friend with an air compressor and a blow gun and gently blow air into the drains until all debree is cleared. if you DONT have a sun roof, check door seals for tears and also another check have someone spray the windsheild and check for leaks, you may have a windsheild seal that has let loose and will need to be resealed

Water on drivers side floorboard . Why?

If you have a sunroof it could be the drain that follows the front pillar letting out under the front fender. These hoses are known to plug and crack open releasing water into the floorboards.

Driver side door check along top and front edge for tears or twisted looses sections. Internal to the door water can drain down along the window and is released outside the door seal. If the bottom of the door has the opening that releases the water plugged then water will drain over into the floorboard.

What is causing water to leak down onto the floorboard of my 2004 Mazda 6 when I have AC on?

this will be condensate from the fins of the ac evaporator in the car and is leaking onto the floor because the drain on the unit is blocked either in the hose or at the bottom of the ac box

What is causing water to leak down onto the passenger side floorboard of my 2004 Mazda 6 wagon when I have AC on?

Feel the water and smell it. If it smells sweet and fells oily, is is coolant. If is isn't oily and has no real smell, it is water. There is a tray under the evaporator and heater cores that catches water/coolant and drains it via a tube thru the firewall to the outside of the car. This tube is probably clogged and needs purged. If you have coolant on the floor, you'll need to replace the heater core. If it is water, purging the hose will solve the problem as the water is just condensation from the AC coils

try having an assistant 'water'' your car with a garden hose while you're in it.especially check seals at windshield & doors.it could take a few minutes of ''watering'' before a leak shows up.
