Why does my 2008 pontiac g6 get louder in reverse

Generally it's a broken exhaust flex pipe,as the engine rocks opposite to what it does when driving forward ,the exhaust flex pipe or a joint in the exhaust separates and it can get NOISY!.

Exhaust leak bad. Very loud nw and using alot of gas2003 silverado ..how can I find exhaust leaks

broken joint connection, shot muffler, exhaust to manifold joint loose/broken, this will affect catalytic mufflers and the O2 sensors which in turn affect ignition and fuel system management systems

Rattling noise, that acellerates when increasing speed

if you have checked everything else you might have a separation inside your muffler or ex pipe touching metal someplace

Are you talking about the flex joint for the exhaust pipe, or the steering shaft ?
A new flex pipe can have a coating that would burn off in the first couple of days.

My car smells like exhaust more than normal when I turn it on why.

As exhaust parts get older, the flex joints, and any moving seals wear and allow more fumes to leak.

Sometimes, a hose can start leaking related to the emission system allowing fumes to escape.

Usually a flex joint will develop a leak more rapidly if the motor mounts and torque struts allow the engine to move excessively.

You can start it cold, and with your hands around any sealing areas, should notice the exhaust leaking. Have a friend push a rag up against the tailpipe to restrict the flow, as you listen up front for leaks.

Thats the flex pipe probably attached to your converter. This type of pipe is used because of how the engine sits in the engine compartment and is used to reduce stress on the exhaust system. This can be done at home but it requires wielding skills. The piece you need is the flex joint. If you have not done this before I might recommend you have some assistance with it. With the Downpipe, Flexpipe and Catalytic Converter all being one piece and only needing the flex joint it will take two or three hours.

at the exhaust manifold there is a flex joint in the exhaust pipe
what you describe indicates that that flex section has failed and need replacing
There is no transmission problem

Can u weld a crack in the flex pipe of the exhaust? the part where the wire mesh is.

no u are unable to repair a broken flex you must have it replaced, should not cost you more that $100 at an exhaust shop.

Exhaust leak near drivers side door

This is a flex pipe and VERY expensive to purchase from the dealership("Y" pipe). Just go to midas or the local mechanic and have them use a universal joint. Won last as long and may crack later leaving you with exhaust noise, but nothing more depending on the size of the crack.
Mine is hanging in there since March 08...

It would be the front pipe you can buy new at about 200-300 hundred or go to auto parts and ask for a flex tube they have 3 or 4 different sizes from 1 and a half inch to 2 and three quarters of inch it should costs 40 to 60 dollars and if you can weld with a mig welder you cut the pipe as close to the flex or weld as possible then install the new part and weld it or if you cant weld and no money is loose buy muffler clamps and tighten them on the pipe new part or find one in scrap yard that is better if theres a problem ask me i have done many

Nothing to do but change that section of exhaust pipe that the flex joint is located on.
