It's not a toyota tacoma it's a 90 Lexus ls400

When I start the car the starter stays engaged I think it starts perfectly but just makes an awful noise and continues until the car is turned off.

Your starter drive is staying engaged. Either the starter has failed, or your ignition switch is keeping the starter engaged. Try moving the key back from "start" while the noise is occurring. More than likely, the starter is the culprit.
