I have a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokeee Ltd and have similar brake light problems. Signals and Running tail lights work but my Left and Right brake lights wont work, changed bulbs checked fuses. Auto Zone said its not the stop light switch because my Top Brake light turns on... Just not the Left and Right.... Any simple solutions?

A friend and I each have a 99 JGC, Laredo and both of them have this problem. Step on the brake and one of the tail lights go out. He even got ticketed for it.

    Any suggestions?

I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I purchased only three months ago. It has already been in the shop three times in a month so I fee like I can help you with your problem. My rear brake light did the same thing and I just had to purchase the whole light socket. It only cost $13.00 from Jeep. I know your jeep is a 99' but the mechanic said that all Grand Cherokees from the last six years or so had the same problem. Changing the light bulb won't work. It will simply burn your bulb out. Simply buy the plastic socket that the bulb snaps in and that should fix your problem. It did for me.

N Grand Cherokees the brake lights are known for having it's contacts get dirty/rusty.If you have bought new bulbs and they still wont work, then you just need to disconnect the light, take out the light seat, and scrub it with CLR and a medium tooth brush. When you reinsert the bulb please be sure that the bulb lines up with the seat contacts.

The light is shorted on the inside. The circuit has shorted and if you have tried replacing all the bulbs then your only other option is to replace the whole light assembly itself. Wouldnt suggest going to the dealership for the taillight but you can find a whole lot cheaper online. Plus it takes like five minutes to replace yourself. So whatya got to lose!

1999 Grand Cherokee at night when headlights are on the right brake light goes off when you apply the brakes

The 1999 Jeep Gran Cherokee has standard all-wheel antilock brakes. The new braking system has electronic brake distribution capability, which makes for a quieter, less pulsing and more balanced braking experience. Possessing the largest brake rotors in the sport-utility segment, the Grand Cherokee meets or exceeds requirements for passenger vehicles, which are stricter than those for light trucks. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Only one taillight comes on but when i hit the brake the taillight goes off and the opposite side only the brake comes on

check the bulbs in all the lights at the rear.make sure the right bulbs are in place if okay then check power at the light sockets with a test light.this should be a start.

1999 jeep grand cherokee brake light problem: tha center light works when i press the brake, but the left and right don't. i replaced the brake switch. trailer brake light work. what could the problem be?

Don't know if this will help but its how i fixed my 2001. Go to: http://www.2carpros.com/forum/2001-jeep-grand-cherokee-laredo-brake-lights-not-working-vt4814.html Tip: If you have a small piece of medal to put under the ground contact point then it will keep it raised in place, i used a really big staple from a staple gun to slide under mine I also replaced all the sockets that the bulbs go into cause mine were falling apart and may have been a part of the problem.

1999 jeep grand cherokee abs light has come on.what to do?

actually it could be something as simple as low on brake fluid. check this and then check to make sure you do not have worn brake pads on the tires this can also set a code when one tire stops quicker than the other

I have a 1999 jeep grand cherokee and the brake lights wont work

there's a possibility that it might be the socket that the bulb actually goes into. my break light did something similar to that. the socket only cost about 8 bucks from the dealer.
