2001 Mazda MPV, 2.5L eng. During accelerating on to highway, van lost power. Van continued to operate but with little power available. I have no engine light and my code "checker" shows PASS (no codes). I was unable to continue to drive and had to have van towed home. I cleaned the MAF senser with contact cleaner (just forward of throttle body). I can start and idle van ok. When I accelerate engine in PARK (neutral) engine operates OK. Put van in drive and I have little power with low RPM (Transmission not slipping?). Help - Need a Manual

Looks like not enough fuel pressure, check the fuel filter.
and the fuel pump pressure.with car running 60 psi
the pump is located at the rear seat driver side you have to remove the carpet to access the cover. if the fuel pressure checked "OK" suspect defective maf sensor (sometimes defective maf sensor do not show errors codes)another way to test is disconecting the maf sensor and start the car (computer goes to limp in mode) and works little better,or check by scanner idle= low grams per seconds and increase when accelerate.

SOURCE: replacing neutral safety switch on 2000 mazda mpv

ALLData.com probably has the best info for your MPV. I use it for my 2000 MPV and it hasn't failed me yet. Mazda wants $250 for a shop manual and Haynes hasn't written one as of yet. My MPV right now won't come out of 2nd gear because of (I'm hoping) a bad PRNDL Range Select Switch.

SOURCE: where is the location neutral safety switch on

2001 Mazda Truck MPV 2WD 2.5L MFI 6cyl
The neutral saftey switch is on the front of trans. To remove, unscrew the four screws that hold up the plastic cover, remove it then look at front of tran it will be right there.it will have the shifter cable attatached to it. Loosen the bolt an make shure to put the van in nuetral there will be a small hole at the top of the shifting nob put a small brill bit through the hole an through the saftey switch this will aline the two an should start.

Good luck (remember rated this post).

SOURCE: Mazda 2000 mpv will not start in park but will

The most likely cause is a bad neutral safety switch. It should be on top of the transmission. Follow the shifter cable through the firewall and the switch will be near the end of the cable

Am working in a mazda mpv 2001, i think the problem is the pcm-ecu-ecm, ebay repaired for around 200 and they need the vin number, is this the only part for my van? or can i get one in the yank yard?

If you are sure the computer is the problem... remove the original one and it will have a tag on it with part numbers. Find one at a salvage yard and compare part numbers to make sure they are the same and it should work. The only thing that may cause issues is if the vehicle has a security system and a relearn/reprogram may be required

MY VAN HAS NO POWER WHEN I TRY TO DRIVE IT

Sounds like you have a issue with fuel flow . Try to replace inline fuel filter . Also Fuel injectors could need flushing or possibly replacing . Try filter first .

Alternator not charging the battery.. Do you know where the alter

You own a mini van. These creations were designed by engineers to drive mechanics crazy! :-( Everything is designed with little or no access. The alternator on your van is made of aluminum (so it's silver). It is located near the crankshaft harmonic balancer. If you look at the harmonic balancer, the alternator will be at the 10 o'clock position. It is on the passenger side of the engine, behind the engine block. One of the fan belts goes to it. The pulley on the alternator has a belt on it. Follow the fan belt which goes towards the rear of the engine.
Charlie
PS You may have to get under the van to remove it.
