I own a 1996 Petrol Carburettor Hyundai Accent and got the following problem. When I start the engine it cranks and hear it running but as I release the switch it stops. I already checked the battery and seems good and changed all HT leads. Also it has only 45000km and been yearly serviced. Can you give me some hints. Thanks.

If it turns over and runs in the start position but stops in the run position, the problem is in the ignition circuit to the coil/s
That can be
1--failed resistor in that circuit ( lowers the 12 volts to 7.5 volts for the coil/s in the run position)
2-- faulty ignition switch not keeping contact in the run position
have an accredited auto electrician determine what is the fault

SOURCE: my 1996 hyundai accent wont crank at all with a good battery

first make sure your battery is good.....one possibility may be your starter.. try hit the starter with a hammer or something similar a few times then try starting it... if that works then u need to replace your starter

Can someone send me pictures of where the sensors are located in my 2001 hyundai accent, please.?????? it wont start.

Sensors may not help you. Define "wont start". cranks? wont crank? cranks but wont run? Check engine light on with key on?

2001 hyundai accent 1.5l codes 300 301 303 have ck tim belt, comp at 200 psi .replace spark plugs, crank sensor ,fuel pump&filter .will start then die

Replace the throttle position sensor (TPS) (since you've checked/replaced anything else which could be causing this problem - except WIRING). Reinspect all wiring & connectors/connections before replacing the TPS. Also, I've seen (on occasion, a faulty "Main Relay" create the condition you describe). Suppose you have a faulty ignition switch (ignition key). When placed in the 'START' position, the engine starts normally, BUT, when you release IT to the 'RUN' position, the engine dies - CLUE?

My 1997 hyundai accent will not start. i can only hear a clicking sound. what should i look at. It has a new battery.

A clicking sound with no cranking, while trying to start your engine, is usually a sign of a bad starter. Have it checked out.

YOUR CLUTCH START SWITCH.ENGINE SHOULD NOT START WHEN CLUTCH PEDAL RELEASED. YOUR ENGINE SHOULD START WHEN YOUR FOOT DEPRESSED CLUTCH PEDAL TO FLOOR..

Strange engine noise - Hyundai Getz

It can be broken baring wheel on waterpump, you can change pupm, belts tensioners. Or it can be hidro valve- which engine oil do you use. Use not 5w30-its too thin ,better use 5w40 or 10w40. Zoran Vrgec, Osijek, Croatia
