I need to pop the hood. The battery is dead, and hood release cable is broken. The previous owner had an efficient way to solve this; they put a wire hanging out the side of the hood lid that was simply pulled in a down-towards-front fashion to pop, then use the lever under the front of the hood to open. However the wire got closed in last time I jumped the battery and now I don't know how to get the side hood latch to pop, I've tried digging the wire out with a butterknife and long screwdriver, no luck. HELP! Thank you :)

The only thing I can think of is to crawl under the car and with a flashlight and something long enough to reach the cable, try to pull it down to where you can get a hold of it. Good luck.

How to release hood latch from locked dead battery 2004 Pacifica

To open the hood of a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica with a dead battery, try these steps:
Find hood release lever: Usually located on left side of driver's footwell near the hood release cable.
Jump-start battery: Connect battery to another car's battery if it's completely dead. This will provide enough power to release the hood latch.
Use manual release: If jump-starting is not possible, consult owner's manual for manual release location.
Get help: If unsuccessful, call for help from a tow truck or mechanic.
Caution: Make sure the car is in park, emergency brake is engaged and engine is off before opening the hood.

2005 quattro , battery is dead and hood wont release. Is it an elecrtonic release?

Heidi, No electric release. The latch is probably stuck. While you pull the interior hood release have an assistant push down and pull up repeatably/vigorously until hood releases from stuck position. Lube latch and cable before closing hood. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Safety catch on hood wont release and hood wont re latch!

I would check to see if the hood release moves when the inside lever is pulled then pushed, if not the cable and latch mechanism may need lubrication or be broken.

There seems to be no way to unlatch the hood release for my 92 buick regal. i have the grill off, but can see nothing at all on how to disengage. i need a diagram of assembly to figure out how this works.

Can you grab the cable with some vise grips and pull on it to open the hood? If not you need to crawl under the front remove the rock guard and look up were the cable is that runs to the hood latch. Once located use a pair of wire cutters and cut the cable as far away from the latch as possible. Once cut try pulling on the plasic covering to see if it will pull off the actual cable. Then pull on the cable and hood should unlatch.

Hood release cable not attached to release mechanism under the hood. Can the hood be popped (opened) from front?? . Battery went dead and when I tried to open the hood the cable was loose (detached)

This same thing happened to my Blazer. If you reach your hand up behind the front bumper and use a hammer you can hit the release latch and it will open.
