OK, check that the 2 fans are turning on when it gets to operating temperature. If not, replace the 3 or so relays that control the two speed fans on your car.If that doesn't solve the problem, then you may have to buy new fan motors and also have the harness replaced if necessary to make it cool reliably.

I had this problem on a 1997 Cadillac Deville Limousine that overheated over 157 deg. F and went into its limp mode for cooling the engine off by allowing 1/2 of the cylinders to circulate fresh air into the engine in case all antifreeze would leak out or the car would overheat.

Don't run the Northstar engine too long, more than 45 min. at a time in this limp mode.

Good luck on this repair of your Northstar Engine.

If it is White Smoke then you most likely have a problem with a transmission modulator valve. White smoke is usually transmission fluid burn off.

However, If it is White Steam which dissipates quickly after leaving the exhaust system then it is water/coolant related. Most likely a blown head gasket. Could be a cracked head or block.

2000 cadillac deville is overheating, replaced thermostat: water pump radiator had head gaskets fixed it's saying check coolant level and it spews coolant from the overflow tank cap when hot thoughts?

Two cooling fans controlled by three relay's . If only one fan is working ,that could be a problem .
Coolant Level Sensor Description
The coolant level sensor monitors the coolant level in the cooling system and indicates if the coolant is low. This sensor is located at the base of the radiator surge tank and is not serviceable.
CHECK COOLANT LEVEL (2)
The IPC receives a discrete input from the engine coolant level switch. The engine coolant level switch is normally closed. When the engine coolant is low, the engine coolant level switch opens. When the IPC receives an open signal from the engine coolant level switch, the IPC displays the message on the DIC.

Relay Driven Dual Cooling Fan Diagnostics There are using a pontiac , by your cadillac is the same .

How do I bleed my coolant system on my 2000 Cadillac deville

Use the radiator drain at the bottom of the radiator on the driver's side. You will need to remove front air deflector panel under the car to get at it. Be sure to do this with a cold engine and remove the overflow tank pressure cap first. Note that this will not completely drain the system, but should be adequate for a coolant change.

I have a 2000 cadillac deville that is running hot.i have changed the thermostat and changed the radiator.my water pump is circelating.what could be the problem?

Make sure that the cooling fan operates properly, and if it does, then your radiator is partially clogged, allowing coolant to only pass through some of its channels and thereby lowering it's cooling efficiency.

My 2000 cadillac deville is running hot.the coolant is not getting to the motor.what is the probblem?

It's likely that the passageways in the engine and radiator are clogged up not allowing full flow of coolant to the motor.

Try to have it flushed and filled with new coolant.

Coolant level warning

Means you need to add coolant to either the radiater or the overflow tank on your vehicle. If the engine is hot add to the overflow tank while engine is running in case it is low so it draws it into the engine. DO NOT open the radiator when it is hot as you could get burned by hot steam. If cool, take off the radiator cap and poor into radiator, then run for a while and then recheck the overflow tank to see it is between the MIN and MAX lines on the tank.

Sounds like an overheating problem, best to get it checked, maybe thermostat stuck closed, pluged radiator, head gasget, cracked head.
