My trunk will not open. I have tried the key remote and the trunk release inside the car. It makes the sound as if it is trying to open, however, the trunk does not open. Is there a way to enter the trunk from the rear seat (other than the small extended trunk compartment. i.e. Will the rear seat fold down?).

check the fuse panel.... owners manual should list which fuse number is the trunk release. If fuse is blown, a new fuse may allow release of trunk. If latch release is bad or shorted out... the fuse may blow immediately.

Have helper push button as you try to lift trunk open. I may just be weatherstrip is sticking. Use silicone spray lube on rubber to stop this. If latch has failed may be harder. Does the trunk have a key hole? Often when electric latch has failed you can turn key, then push button or other release mechanism and then turn key further for manual release (some cars--not all).
1. Open trunk
2. Place latch in lock position
3. Pull inside trunk release to see what isn't moving
4. If trunk key won't turn, the key may be worn out and need to be replaced
You can try this I think the latch is just slightly missaligned.Did you put something in the trunk and push down on the trunk?Try to push down hard on the trunk where the latch is a few times while pressing the remote.If this works and it opens look for marks on the latch indicating rubing,file down,spray with WD 40.Good Luck.
