1998 Isuzu 3.5L trooper engine (in 1998 Acura SLX). Old engine had noise. New engine has same noise. Every mechanic with an opinion says that something is not right, but nobody has a tried & true solution. New engine runs fine after about 50k miles, but lifter noise still exists. Would really like to have a quieter engine solution.

The 1998 Isuzu Trooper is identical to the 1996 & 1997 Troopers with the 3.2L V6 motor. Chilton-Haynes have a decnet and detailed manual for this car. It's available on Amazon.com. That's where I got mine!

Check the rubber vaccume pipes on the front axle first as it will do this if the pull out of 4wd one leaks the pull in 4wd one wins .It defaults to 4wd in .

You got 3 solenoids and a shift motor so best narrow it down a bit - try reading on isuzu trooper owners club UK about this problem .

Get the heads worked on or replaced it might need a valve lashment.

The oil pump is in the oil pan. the lifters will continue to tick until they are properly oiled. Be careful not to use to thick of oil as this will only make the pump work harder and could further damage your engine.
