Need to do a battery draw test. remove the negative cable from the battery, and clip a test light to each connection of this cable and battery. with the key out of the ignition there should not be a light on in the test light, if there is, remove the fuses one by one to find the circuit that is draining the battery. also keep in mind that an over charging altinator can give this symptom. the altinator should be as follows.
no less than 12volt
and no more than 14.5 volt. any higher can over charge the battery and fry it out, as well as give too much voltage to the computer of the vehicle. if none of this applies, then there is a wiring problem.

Yet another problem I can't figure out can someone please tell me what it might be??

Check the battery voltage when the engine is running. You are looking for 13.6v or more, (up to 14.5v). Possibly an issue with the alternator wiring and not the alternator at all.

Are you using a gel based battery?
Sounds like an overload on the charging system screwing the whole electronics of the car.
If not - get it diagnosed at a dealership.
Sorry.

Check the crankshaft position sensor. If the plug is loose or the sensor itself is bad it will cause similar problems

I bought a 96 dodge intrepid 3.5 v6 car that ran great except it was leaking oil from somewhere on the front bottom left hand side of the engine checked everything and put power steering fluid cause it was...

It sounds like the car was ran out of oil.The engine bearings and crankshaft journal are probably scarred. The noise you are hearing is more than likely a piston rod slapping around about to break loose from the crankshaft. So,yes the engine is toast...Sorry..Good Luck!!!
