I have a 2002 Lincoln LS with the same problems. The stereo controls buttons work differently than they are supposed to, the horn doesn't work, and the cruise control doesn't work. Also the airbag light now is on.

I have the LS V8 ~ 02. None of the controls on the steering wheel work. I bought the car used so I do not have a manual, nor can I find one at any of the parts stores. I have been looking for a fuse diagram, hoping thats all it is. I hope taking apart the steering wheel works. Time to tell hubby what to go do! LOL

    Thanks for any help.

I just bought a 2000 LS with the same problem. Nothing on the steering wheel works, and the check engine light just came on. If someone has a solution or knows of a mechanic in the Southern OC area or California, please contact me: [email protected] or text me 714-341-0559. Thanks!

Replace the clock spring, or check all the cabling and plugs first. If you are inexperienced take it to an auto electrician, otherwise do it yourself but disconnect the negative battery terminal for 2 minutes prior to opening the steering wheel to check the plugs, as not doing so could cause the airbag to go off. In addition you can also take out the airbag fuse. Check radio control plugs and close it up again and reconnect everything in reverse order. If that doesn't fix it, then have the clock spring replaced professionally, its too much mucking around if you don't know what you're doing.

Does the cruise control, volume control and the other steering wheel controls work? This is likely the clockspring, which is located inside the steering wheel assembly

2002 lincoln ls horn radio controls cruise control wiring diagram dont work

I'll guess that your air bag light is on as well? Sounds Like you need a new clockspring in the steering wheel. This device replaced the old copper slip rings when air bags come out.

My cruise control doesn't work??...any

jnjkingbird, It sounds like this problem is the clock spring as I don't believe that the horn and the cruise control would share a fuse. However, they do share a circuit in the clock-spring. You can check for power at each unit (horn and the cruise control) which would confirm this. Check each fuse as well. Good luck with this.

Horn nor control on stearing wheel work

Its likely the clock spring, aka sliding contact. Fords/Lincolns are famous for these failing. It's basically the component behind the steering wheel that provides power to everything on the wheel, while allowing the wheel to spin. $160 for the part.

2002 Lincoln LS horn wont work.

the problem is your clock spring. it is not that hard to change but remember to disconnect your battery and let the vehicle sit twenty minutes. there are two screws on the side of your steering wheel. take them out then you will have the chance to release the airbag connector. once you get it disconnected there are a few panels on the lowere steering column under the dash that needs to be disconnected. the last thing will be your steering wheel bolt. it is a star socket. all together it will take you less than an hour. part cost me $138. after that my horn and my cruise control worked as advertised.
