My 91 camry is having a problem charging. The battery is bran new, and just replaced altenator. Its still doing the same thing, no charge! When I put the voltage meter on it, it's still coming back really low. It seems to be a problem with the wiring coming from the car to the altenator! I need help with this please, i'm at a lost.

SOURCE: voltage regulator

Voltage regulator is built-in to the alternator assembly.

Have you tried replacing the battery?
A battery with a shorted cell will not charge properly and may even damage an alternator or regulator.

Note1: use a digital voltmeter (about $25 at Lowe's or Radio Shack) and check voltage across batt terminals while engine running. If more than 12.6 Volts DC and more typically about 13 Volts, then the alternator is working.

Note2: from Jan 98 to May 98 shows a different part # alternator than June - Dec 98
check the manufacture date on your driver door edge.

SOURCE: 91 camry starts and shuts off when put in drive or reverse

I was an ASE master auto tech for 13yrs and have seen this problem before. It sounds like the idle air control valve on the intake manifold has stopped working and the idle speed is not being controlled(letting the engine idle too slow which causes a stall when put under a load such as putting it in gear). Try giving it a little throttle while putting it in gear if that works let off the throttle if it dies you will know the Idle Air controll is not working.

SOURCE: altenator is not charging the battery

sir , the altenator has 3 wires at the connector correct ? a white/red , a green/white and a black , the white/red wire is involved with a 10 amp fuse to do with the charging meter / gauge , the fuse located behind left side of dash .. the green/white wire is is involved with 2 fuses , a 10 amp ECU fuse and a 25 amp Main fuse located at left rear of engine compartment main box , and the black wire is involved with a main 80 amp fuse at the main box also . both of these 2 wires end up at the positive side of the battery , please verify all these fuses are good . if they are indeed good , then open wiring would be next step verify continuity on black and the white/green wires . i would post a link to diagram but autozone repair info site is down at this time . if ya need more help , please ask .

SOURCE: changing spark plug wires in 1998 camry

You aer not clear about your problem, when replacing plugs and wires all the boots need to stay in place, the larger boot goes around the spark plug, making sure the metal is secure around the tip of the plug, the oppisite end fits the distributer cap, making sure the metal at the end of the wire is securely in the hole. You said you have 3 boots, you should boots for each end of each plug wire and a plug wire for each spark plug

91 f-150 5.0 battery charge light stays lit. replaced the altenator and battery, no change. Where do I go from here?

Rule-of-the-thumb: battery must be fully charged before installing alternator. You could replace the voltage regulator.

Clicking sound when starting vehicle

From your brief discription it looks like your battery needs charging. Before charging make sure your radio is off so that you will not damage the microprocessor built in the radio. You can get a quick charge from battery cables hooked to another battery or you can use a battery charger set at 12 volts. Once your car starts after getting your battery charged you want to make sure the battery holds the charge and if it does not, then you will want to have your altenator and voltage regulator checked. Another thing is that some batteries go bad after three years of operation and you may have to replace yours if it is the orginal battery that came with you 2006 Camry.

1996 BMW 328 IC Convertible Altenator ok but not charging battery

Sounds like the alternator may be missing an excitation current source.
Check the 'IGN' dash indicator lights when you turn ignition switch on prior to starting motor,
if not one of the below may be problem:-
1) check exiter control wire is connected to alternator D+ terminal (low current wire, +V with Ign on),
2) replace dash 'IGN' indicator lamp.

1995 Jeep wrangler not charging properly

lf you have replacement cable ends on your battery, check that wires are not corroded under the straps. Also check alternator ground (run a ground wire directly to the alt case) I have seen "lazy" regulators at times but this is very rare. Also make sure drivebelt is tight enough to prevent slipping. Has your battery been charged and load tested?

1991 Dodge Dakota 3.9L new altenator but won't stay charged

Double check all connections are clean & tight. You need to get a voltmeter and have the voltage tested at battery with engine off & running. Drive it to the Napa shop you bought the alternator from if necessary, they should perform test free of charge, as the possibility of a faulty one is not out of the question, provided all is connected properly. Did you check that a main fuse for alternator wasn't blown in Uunderhood power distribution box?

Battery or altenator

with the engine idling, check the voltage at the battery terminals. if its between 13 and 14.6 volts the alternator is probably ok. If its below 13V you need a new alternator. above 15V same thing.
Why did u think it needed repair? is your battery not holding a charge?
