I'm 77 yrs old & not as limber as use to be, therefore any under the dash work is probably prohibitive.

Transaxle went and we replaced transmission and transaxle, put new clutch and slave cylinder in. Bled lines according to directions, still no clutch. Used vacuum pump to bleed.

Did you check to make sure you used the right type of fluids. We just found out ours uses hydraulic clutch fluid and not brake or transmission fluid.

Having some problems getting into gears. sometimes it shifts fine, other times it does not want to go into gear. seems to be getting worse. if i turn the vehicle off, i can usually shift it into gear....

So the clutch isnt didengageing? Check the inside firewall is there fluid on the pole going into the cylender? if so the master cyl is bad, check the slave for leaks also, and yes there is a nipple down there to bleed it it gravity bleeds, so fill it up and open the bleeder untill no air comes out, BUT MAKE SHURE you dont let the fluid container run out or you will be starting over :)

My 1999 accord wont shift into gear while its on but will when its off its a 5 speed.

It's your hydraulic clutch system that probably isn't working. When you press the clutch pedal down, it causes the clutch master cylinder to put pressure in the line to the transmission's little "slave cylinder" that operates the clutch inside the transmission bell housing. This disengages the engine from the transmission so you can shift gears. It's probably not putting the slave cylinder to work by hydraulic pressure. The clutch master cylinder is mounted on the firewall, similar to the brake master cylinder, the clutch cylinder has a reservoir and you may need to add brake fluid to it. If it is dry, then you will need the system bled at the slave cylinder by a pro or someone who understands how. Pretty simple, really, just like bleeding brakes. Also the clutch master cylinder can develop internal leaks and this will lead to loss of clutch.

I have a 2000 mazda 323 with a manual transmission. i have already change the clutch kit but the gear is still hard to shift

Check the hydraulic clutch operation. This is a clutch master cylinder with a reservoir on the firewall, and a clutch slave cylinder down on the bell housing of the transmission, with a steel tube running from the master to the slave cylinder. When clutch pedal is depressed, hydraulic fluid (brake fluid) is forced from the master to the slave. The slave cylinder should push out a little plunger that contacts the clutch fork lever-pushing it forward to engage the clutch.
Add brake fluid to the reservoir if needed. Watch the plunger on the slave cylinder: if it moves little, or not enough, try bleeding the slave from the bleeder valve. They are bled just like brakes. If bleeding doesn't help, your clutch master or the slave may need replacing. The master cylinder, like a brake master, has internal seals that hold hydraulic pressure, so force can be applied to the plunger on the slave cylinder.

Clutch go's all the way to floor with no resistents can not shift gears engine won't stay on. 1987 5 speed pickup truck

Sounds like the hydraulic fluid may have leaked out of a line or the slave cylinder is leaking, or the master clutch cylinder has an internal leak that doesn't actuate the clutch effectively when the pedal is pushed to the floor.

Well I have a 2000 Mercury Cougar 2.5L V6 DOCH engine 5 speed and I know its a hydraulic clutchsystem it has,but the problem Im having is getting the car into gear when the car is on, I feel the clutch...

either you have air in the hydraulic lines or there is a problem with the final linkage. Is the slave leaking? Have you had to add fluid to the reservoir? Was the reservoir ever found empty? If yes, fix leak and bleed system. If no, problem is probably in the fianl linkage after the slave. Slave my be loose or linkage worn out? Let us know what you find and if you need more help.

Can't shift the gear

Is there fluid in the reservoirs? Did it leak out? Where? You can bleed the line just like your brakes and get the pedal pumping again. As long as there are no leaks, The bleeder screw is on the slave cylinder. Hope this helps.

Cannot engage reverse with engine running

Ideally, even if the clutch is worn, the vehicle should still shift as the hydraulic clutch system is designed to be self adjusting to compensate for wear. That leaves just the Clutch Master Cylinder and the Clutch Slave Cylinder.

First thing, check & restore fluid level to full if it is low.

You might just try to quickly pump the clutch a few times and then try going into reverse with the engine running, if it does, then you're going to need to check the entire hydraulic clutch system for leaks, repair any & then bleed the system to get it to work properly. The Clutch Master Cyl. can leak back through the firewall in the drivers compartment near the pedals and indicates seal damage within the Clutch Master cyl. itself.

If you still can't shift even with pumping the clutch it could still be the hydraulic system, it's just time to perform another test:

If the shifter goes easily from gear to gear and into reverse with no problem when the engine is off and sitting still, that confirms that the trans shift components should be in good shape. If you notice it binds, then there could be some internal damage to the forks or other parts.

Back to the hydraulic system, If you find it is the Clutch Master cylinder, it has to be bled itself before attempting to bleed the rest of the system once repairs are made. Once replaced, just keep the connection to the hose loose a small amount while someone presses the clutch, then tighten before they remove the pressure from the pedal. It may be necessary to pull the clutch pedal up by hand and operate it by hand a few times until you build pressure on the system to cause it to stay in the rest position. That will remove air from that part.

If it's the slave cylinder or just a line leaking, you can just bleed the system from the slave cyliinder.

good luck

Having trouble gettin air out of the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder bleed it for over an hour goes in to gear fine then will start grinding any help on the best way to bleed it

This is not a complex system. If air is entering, check the line for any sign of fluid seepage. If intact and fittings are tight, you either have a bad master or slave cylinder. The internal piston in either can be allowing seepage which you should be able to see, or are internally bypassing.
