I want to know if the motor on the 1998 elantra is a j1 modle or j2? Where can I look to see what it is?

The engine ID number is above the trans, printed on the block, below the head. There may be a emission decal under the hood showing a J1 or J2, if you call the Hyundai Parts dept with your VIN number they should be able to tell you.

How to adjust hand break hyundai elantra 2000 model

all cars have self adjusters these adjust them selves, but they do not always work, one trick is too hold your finger on the button and back up slow while pulling up and down on the handle, do it quick, on and off repeatedly like 50 times, but keep in mind you may have strecthed cables too which may need adjusting as well
