There are fuses - 10a "guage" fuse, 30a "power" fuse, 25a "door" fuse, and 7.5a "dome" fuse - but I doubt that those are the problem. You can check them anyway. Might be a problem for a dealer.

The keyless entry system consists of the following components:
  • driver door module (DDM)
  • keyless entry transmitter
  • keyless entry keypad
The driver door module (DDM) receives inputs from the digital transmission range (TR) sensor, ignition switch, brake switch, window/door lock switches, lighting control module (LCM), keyless entry keypad switch and remote transmitter. The DDM outputs consists of keyless entry keypad switch illumination, power door lock actuators, luggage compartment release solenoid, horn relay, and lighting control module (LCM).

Did you program the new key fob ?

Remote Transmitter Programming NOTE: All remote transmitters are programmable and must be set at the same time.
  1. Turn the key from OFF to RUN four times within three seconds, ending in RUN. The locks will then lock and unlock, confirming program mode has been entered.
  1. Press any button on each remote transmitter to be programmed. The doors will lock and unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.
  1. If additonal remote transmitters are to be programmed, repeat Step 3 within 7.5 seconds or steps 2 and 3 if more than 7.5 seconds have elapsed.
  1. To exit program mode, turn the ignition to START or wait 7.5 seconds.
  1. NOTE: Failure to wait at least 20 seconds will cause programming failures. Wait at least 20 seconds after turning the key to OFF or after the last remote transmitter has been programmed to activate a remote transmitter for testing or verification

Keyless remote wont work. remote is transmitting a signal

chances are the remote keyless entry module (RKE) has electrical issues, see if there are problems with wiring, connectors or fuses.

Keyless remotes not working

Try reprogramming the remotes. Here are the instructions for the procedure. Hope it helps. Cobra!
Programming NOTE: All keyless entry remote transmitters (15K601) must be programmed at the same time.
NOTE: To program (or reprogram) the keyless entry remote transmitters into the RAP module, perform the following steps:
  1. Make sure that the anti-theft system is not armed or triggered.
  1. Turn the ignition switch (11572) from OFF to RUN eight times within ten seconds, ending in RUN. If the RAP module has successfully entered program mode, it will lock and then unlock all doors.
  1. Within 20 seconds, press any button on a keyless entry remote transmitter, and the doors will lock and then unlock to confirm that each keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed. Repeat this step for each transmitter.
  1. If the door locks do not respond for any keyless entry remote transmitter, wait several seconds and press the button again. If the door locks still fail to respond, refer to Inspection and Verification.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position, or wait up to 20 seconds after step 2, to exit program mode. If a keyless entry remote transmitter has been programmed (or reprogrammed), the RAP module will lock and unlock all doors one last time to confirm.

Keyless entry only works at very close range.

the batteries are getting weak in your remote control. your dealer should have them in stock and be able to change them for you on the spot.

How do i program remote keyless entry? I replaced the battery and keyless entry quit working,

You don't normally program a keyless entry, that's done for you by the technicians that install that. If the replaced battery doesn't solve the problem, take the battery and the remote to the techies that installed it.

Keyless Entry Key Doesn't Work

Regarding the remote transmitter issue: Take the remote transmitter to your Toyota dealer. Ask them to test your transmitter with their hand-held RF detector. All Toyota dealers are required to have one of these devices. The RF detector will test the remote to see if it is indeed transmitting the proper RF out of the transmitter, and the strength of the RF signal. If there is no signal, the remote has failed (unfortunatly common), and the remote will need to be replaced and reprogrammed to the vehicle. I do this quite regularly, and rarely do I tell customers taht they need to spend 800 dollars for such a simple diagnosis/fix. The keyless system is very reliable. I rarely change the ECU for the keyless, unless somebody somehow gets the ECU wet, then it def needs replaced. Hope this helps.

Keyless entry module

Under the hood fuse panel, my 1997 doesn't have keyless entry so it might be aftermarket.

Keyless / remote control - Toyota vienta vxi

No, not true. We replace remotes regularly, and have never had a need for a "working" remote. The keyless entry system does not "disable" itself. Hope this helps.
