Fitting front fog lights

Hi,
I would like to fit front fog lights to my 1998 S70.
Could you please tell me if the car is pr-wired for this job. including the dash switch, and a relay, or will I have to start from scratch?
Thank you for any info.RT (auzilink) [email protected]

I am also searching for info. I have been told that S70s already have mounting holes for the foglight brackets, and they MAY be pre-wired. So you need the shorter grills (Volvo part 9151512 - for the left and 9151510 - for the right) and a foglight switch. Other than that, you need a "jumper." BUT, I cannot get details on the actual wiring, or what exactly to "jump" or how. This is what I have found for aprox. costs without shipping:

Foglights - about $150, dash fog light switch - about $25, grilles - about $35. Knowing how to do it - priceless.

    Hi Volvo S70.

    Thanks for your interesting comments.

Since my last post, I have found out that everything is in place to fit Fog Lights incuding the Relay, exept the shorter Grills as you mention.

I am now looking for some used lights as new one are far too expensive.

    Thanks again for your comments.

Does anyone know the location of the front foglight relay & what number it has?

The pre existing wireing  seems a bit too short, and the final conectors are not compatable anyway, do I need an extention or what?

You do not need a "jumper" to fit front fog lights on a S70 as the connection is there for each individual lamp, but obviously you will need a dashboard switch and a relay
My problem is; what number is the relay and where does it fit on the car. Does anyone know?

I just saw fog lights on e-bay for about $125 - $130 + shipping.
So the relays are there? I have not checked not car yet. I was told fogs need a "J relay" and a "white relay with green feet" under the driver's side knee bolster, and a "gray relay" at the fuses. Please let me know if you have part numbers in case I need to order them. (Maybe I will try a donor car from a salvage yard). Good luck.

Fog lights not working on 2006 Nissan Maxima

The most likely cause is a 'short' in the wiring. Remove the light fitting and take a good look at the connections on the actual light fitting. Look for dirty or damaged parts. Check the wires and the connector blocks are clean, shiny and are not damaged. Then check the light fitting itself for damage. Check the seal where the light fitting fits against the bodywork. If moisture or water is getting past it can affect the lights.

Rear fog light not working.2004 toyota rav4

I guess that your refering to the backup lights? They have their own fuse and aren't imune to having the bulbs burnt out. The bulbs are easiest to check as they may be black in color or knocked out of their holders. The back up light switch is part of the neutral start switch and they will have other problems like no start if it's bad. wiring and their plugs are also possible mainly if the car as been in an accident or other bending action.

Hi where is the rear fog light switch on an n reg lucida cheers

It can be absolutely anywhere. Rear fogs are not required in Japan, and the Lucida was a Japanese-only model. When they get exported outside Japan to territories like UK/Europe where rear fog lights are compulsory the importer or retailer usually just fits a cheap rear fog light kit and mounts the switch almost anywhere as long as there is a warning light visible to the driver.

Better quality conversions will replace the Lucida's lighting stalk with the one fitted to the Previa; this has a rotating collar which acts as the fog light switch and sometimes the job is done even more properly and the instrument binnacle from a Previa is also fitted. This then means that the warning light is with the other instruments as per a Previa and if you're in the UK/Republic of Ireland the speedo in is mph.

Fog lamps won't turn on

OK, you will need to first check the fog light wiring harness. make sure there are no worn wire lines or connections, replace if you see noticeable flaws in the wiring harness. Next, check the clip that fits over the back side of the fog light bulbs. Make sure that the inside copper pins are in good condition and, the the fit is tight. replace the wiring harness if these clips are worn or not fitting properly.

If the above inspections show no apparent wiring harness issues, you will then need to check for bulb failure. make sure that your fog light bulbs are operational. if the bulbs are ok, replace the switch.

Please rata and have a great day:)

Wiring front fog lights to a 2002 freelander ES.

Do not fit these lights yourself, you must take the vehicle to the dealer to have it done .Firstly as vehicle wasnt factory fitted you need the original homoglonation certificate from the manufacturer for the model with the foglights fitted, then you need a installation project drawn up by certifide auto engineer with the relevent technical qualifications (i have them) then they can only be fitted by a garage with an added value tax certificate, then vehicle must be presented to the local vehicle inspection depot to be mechanically inspected all over weither its due or not,the relevant paperwork plus the fee presented ,then a new vehicle registratrion document issued showing the changes.Failure to to this will cause the vehicle to fail its inspection when next presented as paperwork isnt correct ,the lights are ilrevelent as to weither they work or not,but if fitted from new they must work. Also if stopped by the guardis civil and paperwork checked, and they notice then you risk having the vehice impounded their and then on the spot ,big fine and the cost of the removal truck.
