How do I reset the immobiliser in my 2008 VW Passat Diesel? It is making the initial starting sound, but no diesel getting to the engine! Much appreciated, thanks.

When you open up the diesel injector lines (take injectors out) you let air into the system and the diesel cannot make its way past it. You have to bleed the lines by opening the injector lines at the injector by a half turn. (Always be careful with diesel injector systems, it is under enough force to shoot a stream right into and under your skin causing nasty results) Cover the injectors with a towel and turn the car over until diesel is leaking out of each line. (Keep away from injectors while turning it over!) After diesel is seen coming from injector lines, retighten injector lines and try starting.
first make sure you replace fuel filter(diesel filter ) fill the new one with diesel before then fix back . try close (temporary) the return fuel line to make sure the pressure is ok
using the key, lock car/hold key over for 30 secs, then press/hold unlock button for 30 secs, that resets the alarm/immobiliser.OR does the pre heater coil light up orange then go out so that you can start car,or are you trying to start the car too soon or waiting too long after the light goes out.also try spare key, sometimes key looses code...as the pre heater is operated by opening the drivers door any delay...
have you tried wynns/redexe diesel treatment, could be dirty injectors.....
after trying all the above and you have no joy, come back to me, ta!

all seem to be fine for this car - the castrol is good oul through and through so will almost certainly be ok
But just to be on the ultra safe side...
you can phone Volkswagen Parts/Dealer yourself and they will advise you as to the best oil to use depending on your cars mileage etc...
Read the owners manual or call the V.W. service department. sound like you need to clean the filter. If you ignore the warning more then 3x you will cause damage and it will be costly.
never had a problem after a belt change, are you sure the crank hasnt moved and if it is the pd engine they need to be bang on or it wont go!! what timing mark did you use for the crank ?
Generally it is not recommended using parts either that the ones designed for same model, however some Passat engine connects same way as Golf. You need to know the Passat engine year and verify engine mounting procedure and connections positions. Getting the two Haynes manuals for the two VW models can help you to compare.
